Shipping one truck worth, it's probably cheaper to go truck. But there's this thing called "bulk rates". Usually businesses are willing to work with other businesses on "bulk rates", especially for a long term commitment.
I see a flicker from florescent lights. CFLs and bar style. Bugs the crap out of me. Had to switch to torchiere style lights so it at least bounces off the ceiling first. They cause me headaches over a long period of time. I switched a lot of my lights I use most commonly to LEDs around the house and it helped. Point being, sometimes people don't hate something because it's different. Haven't bought an incandescent bulb in years, because I'm energy conscious, but I can see where others might not want to subject themselves to headaches because someone else says they can't buy the bulbs they like.
My windows installation is over a year old as well. Still super fast. I use a macbook for work, but all personal stuff is done from that desktop. I just haven't seen the slowdown that people are complaining about. Perhaps it's because I don't let things start at boot, and I don't run a virus scanner that runs at startup, using clamwin, clamscan and malwarebytes instead.

Saddling people with soul-crushing debt to pay for an education is a great way to make them desperate. Myself, I went into IT, where my skills and abilities, earned me my current job (and the last 4). They then paid to get me a couple certs. They also pay me well above the median household income, and allow me to work from home, all because I was able to demonstrate my ability. The key is to find a field you don't mind working in that needs workers. Electricians, plumbers, welders, mechanics... the world needs more of these. They make more than most college graduates, after 4 years of getting paid instead of paying to learn a craft. The ideal that you're espousing, that anyone that doesn't pay for a degree or have rich parents is doomed to fail is complete bollocks. It just takes effort, drive, and a willingness to work for what you want.
There are always drawbacks. There is less reason for the inventer to show the drawbacks. Call me a cynic, but I'll hold my excitement for them until we see all the ups and downs. Who knows, maybe those old people will be right.
My win machine has an ssd for the os drive. From button to ready to go is about 35 seconds, including me typing my password. I have the docs and all that moved to a spinning disk. Took less than an hour of customization after the install to move the stuff that was going to take space. If windows is "thrashing" an ssd for 20 minutes, you have malware. If it is thrashing the spinning disk when you installed windows on the ssd, you have malware, or you are doing it wrong. If you installed windows on a spinning disk and have an ssd, you are doing it really wrong.
Packard Bell used to do this back in 95. I had a system that specifically would not boot anything but Windows. I spent months trying to get it to run linux. It would not boot anything but windows off the drive. Found out years later that there was a check it did for what was booting.
How dare they control the data they've spent so much to collect! If only there was some way for you to make your own search engine, and gather such results.
ah, I just saw that you had replied. Basically, the iPod Touch is the iPhone without the Phone. People do pay several hundred dollars for this, but not $600. $300 is list price. So, the difference in price, $300, is the difference between the parts that are affected by the patents in question (the phone), and the polished slab of plastic that is capable of playing all the same games, running the same apps, and looking the same as the iPhone.
Their offer was for the FRAND rate that they offer everyone. It's wasn't unfair, or exorbitant. Citations. Apple wants to pay about 7% of the FRAND rate, or roughly.18% instead of 2.25%.
It would still be cheaper than 2.25% of $600, which is $13.50. Apple would still be saving money at $10, so you wouldn't have to throw them in jail. Apple is asking the court to set the rate at.16% of the valuation of the handset, or about 7% of what is being asked in the initial negotiation offer. They're really trying to cheap out here.
Lawyers are expensive because laws are complex and plentiful. Laws are complex because most politicians are lawyers (or own law firms). It's feeding their self interests. Simplify and reduce the number of laws and you'll have cheaper lawyers.
I'm glad to see that they are working more on this. The more we understand about the effects of solitude, the better we will be able to combat them. Glad we're getting this out of the way so that when propulsion and radiation shielding are ready, so are the people that will use them.
If you have a net loss of 80% from this and a 50% net loss from batteries, then it matters 30%. That means you need 30% more "renewable resources", meaning 30% more windmills or solar. However, something like this might be a good way of handling the extra energy generated at night, and other off peak times, so we can increase the base load handled by nuclear.

The fact that so many people choose to use it, however, is indicative that it's a cost effective solution.
Nuclear power, like the Navy. Small thorium reactors for everyone!
If you kill everyone not in the ruling elite, then there is no one to rule. They need us plebes so that they don't have to actually work.

Click on the other stars. That re-centers the map on the star you click.
Worked just fine for me... Did you click on it?

You overestimate how much of their profit comes from processors. They make a ton on their flash chips, too.
I'm sorry, you made sense. Please leave.

My comment was a joke, though I wouldn't mind an app to send out my companions while I'm not sitting at my computer...

What do you mean I can't play the Old Republic on my phone? It has Windows on it!
