Aside from reporting statistics etc., what would be most useful from a business point of view would be some sort of e-strategy that is aligned with the overall strategy of the company. Executives usually spend lots of time envisioning where they want the company to be in X years. Figure out what this is, and formulate a plan for IT to facilitate this.
These days, the role of IT in all sorts of business ventures continues to increase, and can offer real strategic advantages for companies. They just have to realize this, and make the most of it. You can help with that.
A bit of an old story, not sure anyone will read this, but...
I hear this kind of thing quite often; that they don't prepare you for that sort of thing. At my university, however, professors continually stress the fact that you have to try really hard to figure out what the client wants, and they teach you techniques you can use to help with this. There are multiple courses dedicated to this in my Master program (one of them Problem Analysis and Solution Requirements deals almost exclusively with this).
Then again, my Master course is a bit more business-like than hard-core CS.
Hate to reply to my own post, but the scanned ad can be found here
As an anecdote; recently, the person with the least technical skill and knowledge I know (and that says quite a lot), told me she bought a new computer with XP on it because she heard Vista "has to many flaws". I'm pretty sure that if even she knows, everyone in the country knows. I'm pretty sure we didn't have this when XP came out.
The Consumentenbond is taken very seriously here. Today I found an ad folder in the mail from the Mediamarkt (big computer/electronics store here in Holland) with a large ad in it advertising new computers with XP. "We have them again!". I can't find anything about it on their website. I scanned the ad, and I would upload it if I had some place that could handle the load. I'm open for suggestions!
In theory, it might be possible to install OSX without having to open the case, thus avoiding waranty issues; the Apple TV can be made to boot from the USB port: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTgC_dmp8vE
Projects are already underway that aim to create something you can put on a USB thumbdrive and boot the Apple TV with, while automatically enabling SSH for you. Once this is done you could make the USB port functional for regular use (which has already been done with a hex edit hack, allowing you to connect mice/keyboards/external dvd drives: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SWQnQie6vo0)
There are already projects underway to add all sorts of functionality to the Apple TV. Check http://www.awkwardtv.org/, esp. the wiki: http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/Main_Page
The patchstick project (enabling SSH without opening the case) and ATVfiles (play divx movies on the file system, and files not in the iTunes library) look particularly interesting.
I've been keeping a close eye on this from the beginning and I find it amazing how quickly they are figuring things out. It almost looks like this thing was made to be hacked. This thing might even replace Xbox Media Center one day.

My God man! Think about what you're saying! We're talking about Korean nerds here!
It'll be a black day for humanity when one of those things goes "Kekeke Zergrush ^_^".
When I read the title, I thought it was about the kind of white lies you tell users who get stressed out with their computer, in order to not make it too technical for them.
"The big yellow 'E' was the source of the naked women who scared little timmy. Now when you want to get to your internet, just click the red fox on the blue ball. That's your internet now. Also, the blue bird with the envelope will get your mail for you now."
Or when you try to hold your laughter when a user walks up to you and proudly declares he bought a "harder disk" for his movies, and just say "really? Thats cool." (pretty hard that one, though)
Don't make the damn things black! There's enough dark matter out there as it is! Didn't science fiction teach these people anything? You're supposed to put colorful panels and flickering lights on it!

Mars gets along perfectly without so much as a micro-organism. Tell me... would it be greatly improved by a copy of Windows Vista?

Although I know Pepsi isn't supposed to come out through your nose, I still feel like I should thank you for that post.
my 15" seems to indicate a Roll to the left of 12 points, sitting on my desk. Wonder if it's acurate, as i don't think my desk is very uneven.
Geek ain't no country I've ever heard of! Do they speak English in Geek?
Funny thing is, I actually run and use Delphi 7 with Crossover Office (for school).
All Google needs to do is rename itself to Freedom Search, and all will be well...

Damnit, you made me wet my pants.
