    But an EULA (usually) comes after payment, so that doesn't hold. In the case of an EULA, you get to use what you payed for, and the company gets your soul.

    Referring to banks, not delivery drivers. The delivery company would use vans because it's far more efficient (ie cheaper). The bank would train COBOL devs because it's also much much cheaper than replacing a working system.

    COBOL isn't hard to learn, and it can be understood/read/debugged a lot easier than many of the more contemporary languages. Banks that want to maintain COBOL systems need to just hire new CS graduates and give them time to come up to speed on the COBOL language.

    All this may be true but why would they do that when, if they replaced it with something developed in the current century, they would not need to. A delivery company could train it's employees to drive horses and then use horse carts to make local delivery runs but why would they? Well perhaps for a sales gimick but otherwise using old technology often gives significant disadvantages beyond the need to train your employees.

    Because it's cheaper.

    Especially since one of the licenses that all contributors have agreed to specifically states that the licence CANNOT BE CHANGED.

    How can the State of California breach the 1st Ammendment. I was under the belief that the US Constitution said what the Federal government could do, and had no effect on the States themselves, which would each have their own constitution.

    The constitution is a list of things the US government is ALLOWED to do. If it doesn't apply in 'no-man's land', then surely they can't do anything.

    As a non-American, I agree with this. The problem is that states won't change their voting systems, because it automatically gives them far less influence.

    I thought it was just an American thing. In Australia, Telstra sent everyone on it's network an ad SMS and charged them all for it. That quickly put a stop to the practice here.

    If this was about removing legacy USB, they would put 6 of the bloody things in.
    If this was about catering to customers needs, they would have a 4-2 split.
    If this was about making money from selling dongles, they would do what they have done.

    MagSafe is overrated anyway. It doesn't connect anywhere near powerfully enough. It's fine when connected to a Mac sitting on your desk (but then so is any other connecter), but it disconnects anytime you move if you have it sitting on your lap.

    Not as durable as lightning? Pull the other one. I've yet to have a lightning cable (Apple or otherwise) last more than a year (usually months or less), and they cost a fortune! Meanwhile, I have never had a single issue with any USB cable or connector, despite using shitloads of them, being a mobile dev since before mobile devices even had usb.

    That works out to 3.6M requests per hour.

    They boasted themselves that their servers could handle 1M submissions per hour. I can't believe they said that, because it's obviously not enough when they're expecting 12M submissions in one evening.
