    I have a x1000 with Pentium 1.6GHz. I find that unless I do some CPU intensvie job like kernel compiling my CPU freq stays at 600Mhz. Therefore the fan turns on rarely - for example only when I play tuxracer/kernel compiling. Is such a speed step built in windows XP also?
