    There are microbes which will break down plastics - we could use those.

  4. First, take all the packaging - and leave it at the store. Make them deal with it and bear the cost. Then it shows up as bad corporate behavior on the annual reports.

    Second, reduce usage. If a tiny battery comes in ten pounds of packaging, don't buy that. Or leave it on the sales desk.

    Third, reuse. I just brought in ten ramen in a bread bag. I'll probably use that bread bag three to five times. This cuts my waste to 1/3 throught 1/5 what most people do, plus I didn't need a bag. This also can be used as a garbage bag, by the way. The reason I brought in ten ramen was I bought a cardboard case of 24, and you can reuse that box or recycle it.

    Fourth, recycle. But if you have a need for soup, reuse your cottage cheese container to store it or other sauces.

    There, cut the waste stream by 90 percent. Stop whining, grandpa!

    Look, if sea levels rise a couple of feet, this affects the cable repeaters and the landing approaches. A couple of feet may impact whether a six foot raised building is viable, because it's now four foot, and the wave action is likely to wash away the support structures. Some cable landings may have been built on promontories that could be reached by roads which now get washed away, and the storm impacts can cause other problems.

    Oh, pro tip, change clothes, hats, wigs, glasses, alter your stride, stand next to different people, remember that face dazzle paint does work, and remember how they measure faces (points on nose, eyebrows, chin, mouth, cheekbones). Anything that alters those defeats all known facial recognition, even orange spray tans (sparkle rainbow is better, tho).

    We use LINUX. It's not "obsolete", all we do is crunch massive DNA sequences. We don't "need" graphics to do that.

    The graphics are something we do on another machine.

    Now, authorize those 4000 TB drives we need and stop whining.

  23. I know others have posted, incorrectly presuming that ownership of a fancy house or a fancy car means you're rich, but in actual practice, most people who own fancy houses are not wealthy, but spend too much on flashy stuff, and the same goes for cars.

    Rich people care about things they care about, and that means an iPhone.

    Can't falsify emissions for that.

    Go ahead and charge your car up off our nice, clean hydroelectric power. Never mind that the hydro base generation is 100% committed and the energy we incrementally add to the system is from gas turbines and coal.

    Dude, you are so 1980s. Since 2000 or so, you can buy green wind and solar power in literally every state in the Western US. All new construction in King County (WA) and California is required to have solar or low energy passive design.

    Wake up and smell the couple of decades ago, grandpa. We adapt, you pay high rates for fossil fuels.
