Or, they attempt to get their hands on some Government cheese. After all, their failing business model isn't their fault (just as it wasn't Ford or GM's fault).
Lack of foresight to what the market will bear can bring down these institutions over time -- as long as the government doesn't deem them "too important to let fail".
Mythbusters addressed this a while ago: http://mythbustersresults.com/episode10 Although, I wonder if the results would be different if the plane was in flight at 600 MPH -- somehow, I think that would make a difference, no?
Prior to Stern going to Sirius they had about 700K subscribers. They now have close to 9 million. While you cannot say that ALL of the new subscribers (over 8 million of them) came strictly for Stern, it is highly suspect since XM's subscriber base did not grow anywhere near the same proportion.
I think a lot of people don't realize the effect that "dumb deal" had.
I took it as KDE has all the abilities needed based on the meme that KDE reinvents the wheel for EVERY application out there (KOffice, etc.)
I may be WAY off on what was meant, but in any case it made me chuckle.
"if the teachers would teach something worthwhile I'd listen"
If you really are in a high school classroom then:
A) You are in a required course, the teacher must follow defined curriculum.
- or -
B) You are in an elective course, that you chose to sign up for and attend
In case A), the teacher has limited flexibility in "what" is being taught. In case B), you should be interested in the subject, since you elected to take it.
In ANY case, a good teacher should be able to make any topic interesting and engaging.
Whether or not the delivery person is already paid cannot be guaranteed. Many in the industry are "independent contractors" who are paid a pittance from the business (if at all) and most of the income comes from gratuities.
The way it is worded they can "inspect" data without losing their common carrier status -- as long as they do not filter it. So in essence, they can "inspect" the data, and report end users to the proper authorities -- without denying service. They keep their common carrier status AND make the media companies happy. It's a win-win (for them, at least).
The real challenge is "inspecting" packets in real-time with no degradation of service... That would take some powerful hardware.
An off topic question (because this happened to me)
With the classes weighted, how did they take into account actual credit hours into GPA?
As a freshman I took 7 classes instead of the suggested 6 (who really wanted to waste their time in study hall?), with three honors classes weighted at 5.0.
Some class mates that also had three honors classes only took 6 classes with a study hall.
Since study hall didn't have any associated credit/cost with it, the GPA came in favor of those who took less classes.
My GPA was ((4 * 4) + (5 * 3)) / 7 = 4.43
Others received ((4 * 3) + (5 * 3)) / 6 = 4.5
I brought this up to the school administration -- they made some changes the next semester, but the changes weren't applied retroactively. After that I never paid any more attention to GPA -- just having fun.
This gives you access to the console (remote desktop session that won't deny you access). From there you can go into terminal services manager and forcefully disconnect the abandoned sessions.
I started a POS software application for a local restaurant. The restaurant in question decided at the last minute they didn't want to bother with upgrading (from their handwritten system).
As has been stated, its important to find a motivated admin for the project, one who will get with you to understand the requirements and will keep all of the other people on the project working towards a solution.
By posting this here, I'm sure you will be inundated with offers to help -- I would be willing to give a hand but my skills are almost exclusively windows (as far as the front end GUI goes).

The article states that the "clocks went back last weekend". That is not true.
If they would listen to the news at 5 or 6 this wouldn't be an issue!

FUEL Costs? Don't be silly. The internet is NOT a truck you just dump stuff on.
No, no. They're still well within those five nines.
I would make into the shape of lego pieces.
Ahh video over the internet.... Unfortunately for me, I live out in the sticks. Good news though, my new 56K modem showed up today!
I'm NOT arguing that DirecTV and Dish merging would be bad, that almost assuredly would be....
However, in your case, did you switch? If NOT, how did the competition benefit YOU?

While repealed now, it serves as a reminder that this can and does happen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedition_Act_of_1918

I think the overall mortality rate is pretty close to 100% nationally.

I don't know -- watching the waveforms of some of the voice mail that I get could be entertaining.
This continued even well into the CD era. Yellow Ledbetter was a "b-side" (is there such a thing on CD, I guess not) to the single Jeremy.

Sounds like once this is up and running, resistance will be futile.

I don't think my local building codes allow for s secure firewall to have any windows, but I'd have to check.
