Turns out when you continually cut funding, and shove more and more students into continually smaller classrooms it becomes continually harder to touch on all subjects you want. You obviously have 0 fucking clue, "0". My parents were generally up till midnight correcting papers etc. most days of the week, and they had great districts with generally smaller class sizes.
Society functions because people follow rules, of course schools teach that. What were you expecting them to teach? "If you don't like something just don't do it"... lord knows that works out quite well. So we have students who just don't do their math homework because they dont' like it. We have students who don't do english homework because they dont' like it. Apparently you're either just too stupid to figure it out, or didn't attend, but that's the type of learning that you get at college, after you've matured to the point where you can aptly apply it. Ever been in a room full of 7th grade students? It's enough to get them to sit down for an hour at a time, I'm sure it would work WONDERFULLY to teach them that it's great to question authority and never do anything they dislike so that they may be able to "think for themselves".
It's rare to find those teachers because it's rare to find students who can actually understand the concept and apply it properly at such a young age. You apparently didn't quite get that part whenever you met said teacher though.
Let me get this straight... a copy of windows is worth 1$ illegally pirated, but a CD is worth what was that again? $20,000? Someone PLEASE explain that one to me.
Always have a scapegoat it's the motto of universities. Always have a fallguy. Someone you can point the finger at, because realize you will be blamed for something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with you at some point.
"The program doesn't run on windows."
"You asked for a linux platform, it's running flawlessly on linux."
"TOLD YOU GUYS, IT'S JOHNS FAULT IT DOESN'T WORK!"
vs. a linux house where you'd have to ring the doorbell while turning up the thermostat and unlocking the front door all at the same time just to turn on the light in the bathroom.
As a child of two teachers, I GUARANFCUKINGTEE you they don't support the kind of trash Bush is spewing. You will find far and away that the VAST MAJORITY of the teaching population in this country are "liberals". Generally speaking consveratives are rich white americans, therefore they think the first place they should cut into is public school systems (why the hell should they care, they send their kids to private schools anyways).
So PLEASE don't even attempt to say that the public school teaches support of such bullshit. The MEDIA is telling kids this shit, and they gobble it up. Any poli sci class I ever had in PUBLIC high school preached up and down about our freedom's and how we should never take them for granted.
I see that there are no gloves for this suit. So... in theory, you have arms that can lift 800lbs, with hands and fingers that will tear off your body at ~500lbs (assuming it's fragile little thing like that guy).
Remind me again why you would want to be able to have superhuman strength when all it's going to do is cause you to smash a body part if not amputate yourself by accident.
think about it, with all the IP patent that the "mega corporations" of today are allowed, there won't be an opportunity for the next "google". One of the mega's will already hold some obscure patent to their groundbreaking technology and sue them to death.
So basically lexmark didn't buy off enough people to get their way is what this is saying? Because this lawsuit has just as much merit as every other one that "went down without a fight".
Umm... just because it'll run on x86 doesn't mean it'll run on average PC hardware. Tell me Dvorak isn't this stupid? I really don't think apple is just going to give up their proprietary lock, I believe this move is just to get in on more profit/cheaper hardware. I'm sure they'll still have their own proprietary system in place of the bios, which means all of us on regular x86, not mac x86, still won't be able to use it. And I *REALLY* dont' think you're going to see hundreds of thousands of people running out and buying a mac just because it's "Intel inside".
I thought bittorrent was in prison? Didn't he steal star wars episode 3 from George Lucas? I thought that was immediate grounds for execution by way of ping of death.
Either way, what the hell is he doing giving out legitimate content, everyone knows bittorrent only gives away stolen goods:/
Guess we'll finally see linux on the desktop

Am I the only one who thinks that this is the nail in their own coffin for MS and anyone else trying to shove this down us (the consumers) throat. To date I've refused to use linux just because well... it's EASIER to do what I want on windows. I'm willing to pay for ease of use when the price is money. I am NOT willing to pay it when it comes at the sacrifice of my own rights.
Basically what I'm saying is if this all goes through, and they start locking down our rights, I will be the first to jump ship to linux, and I promise you I will be forcing everyone I know to do the same. If it comes down to having a computer "for work" (programs that will only run under trusted computer) and a personal box so be it. I promise that that "for work" computer will be as barebones as possible and that the companies involved will get as little of my money as possible.
Or rather, companies want someone to call when their in-house guru has a problem he/she can't solve. "Call redhat" is probably a bit more acceptable to a CEO than "well, I'll just make a post on the mailing list and we should get a fix in a month or two".
What kind of CRT monitors are you buying/using that you're worried they won't last 12-18 months? My sony g400 has been running solid for almost 6 years now. Granted, it's definitely gone downhill in the last year or so, for the first 3-4 it was fine.
here's a thought, if you're worried about not having CRT's for the next 12-18 months, why don't you just buy like 100 from suppliers now, and store them till you need them?
uhhhh, last I checked males were the determinate factor on the sex of the baby. And it's determined long before it matter what a mother eats. Sperm carries the sex of the baby, and the sperm surely can't magically change post fertilization.
gee, *SHOCK*. Fat lazy person too lazy to "futz around with something" or "make the extra effort". I can't imagine why you need weight watchers in the first place????
re-iterate from my post above. They're going to BUY starter edition whether they want to or not. Know why? Because if you RTFA you'd see that it's only being sold the the OEM's making PC's. Anyone who buys an OEM PC in india is buying a copy of the O/S. End users couldn't get a copy of starter edition if they wanted to.
Note to you: apparently you don't get it. Microsoft sells this directly to PC makers, it doesn't matter if the end-user wants it or not. It doesn't matter if the end user pirates windows. Someone in india who pirates windows was going to do it if it was 200$ or 70$, it really doesn't matter, let's be realistic.
M$ found a way to still make money, while giving manufacturers what they want: a PC they can advertise running windows. The PC makers really don't give a crap if it's a full version or not either. Joe public, whether in india or america or afghanistan hasn't a cluebie the difference between XP starter edition and XP pro.
And just think... some random swedish teenager had access to all those 0days. Imagine what people with real connections, or even the people writing this stuff have access to. Gives you more than a little reason to be paranoid.
I have a feeling you haven't touched 5.x since it's first iterations. Granted, the VERY FIRST 5.x releases were QUITE flaky. But since 5.3 was released it's been nothing but stable for me.
As a desktop O/S, I'm sure you did have issues, but then, that was never it's intention.
What exactly have you had portupgrade break? I've never had a single problem with it. If nothing else it's helped to take care of my dependency woe's.

CRT's also WERE very cheap compared to LCD's, and they weren't very cheap until LCD's started showing up to take their place on the high-end.
I can get a 19" LCD for less than 300$ now. I bought my 19" sony CRT in 2000 and it was 550$. So... ya.
And best yet, there's no worries about exploits relating to your favorite financial websites. Why? Because it's unusable on them anyways!
