A new study had found that 27% of studies reach obvious and/or useless conclusions.
A previous study found that more than 50% of studies are contradicted by other studies. From the wording, it would seem clear that these two sets are disjoint (useless or obvious research doesn't need to be repeated. At least not once you have tenure). That means that less than a quarter of studies are worth a damn.
State laws on employment are moot for the federal government (the example here was a DEA agent - a federal employee working within the Department of Justice - who belongs to NORML).
The stated example is not quite a match for the original story, again because the DEA is part of the federal government. The fictional DEA agent may have a 1st ammendment case for that reason, while the anti-DRM lawyer probably does not (because the law firm is not part of the government).
Let's reserve judgement for "Mac Pro" (that is, the pro level desktop machine) when it comes out. There will be no excuses at all if that machine does not kick serious ass.
No you wouldn't (granted, you'd need to daisy-chain a pair of these to get to 11 drops, but I'm sure they make 5x16 multiplexers for apartment buildings and the like).
Of course, time travel is perfectly possible... and with relativistic travel, arbitrary time travel into the future is not only possible, but a proven fact.
Even without it, it's still a proven fact. Of course one's temporal velocity is, for all reasonable human experiences currently fixed, but we are all, indeed, time travelers in a sense.
Dude, I can read Spanish a whole lot better than I can speak it. Translating words in a foreign language into your native tongue is far, far easier than going the other way.
This is where every content provider, every user, every ISP - literally everybody stands up as one and tells them to go fuck themselves. This is even more important than those bullshit SCO Linux "licenses." If Bell South gets away with this nonsense, you can bet Comcast and SBC^H^H^HAT&T won't be far behind.
When they sold us all asymetric home internet connections we said nothing.....
I suspect that unless someone comes up with a replacement HAL that can deal with EFI, we will likely have to wait for Vista for an EFI compatible Windows.
A friend of mine inside Fruitco says that if you hold down "option" during boot, you'll be able to select among the available bootable partitions, so it does look like booting EFI compatible OSes should be easy.
It's clear that Linux or one of the BSDs or some other *nix will be first to boot on one of these machines before Windows. Of course, my question at that point would be, what's the point?
And a lot more people, including myself, are getting nothing at all on my HDTV since I'm just far enough away that the signal seems to be too weak. And I live in the San Jose area, 30 or so miles from San Francisco as the bird flys.
I live in Santa Clara and I'm getting everything more or less perfectly with a sort of "medium" size log-yagi aimed Northwest on a ten foot pole on the roof of our single story house. I'd be hard pressed to see how anyone in the south bay north of Morgan Hill would not be able to easily do the same. It sounds to me like you've got problems unrelated to your antenna or location.
Lastly, quite a few people in the east of SF live in quite mountainous conditions. Cannot pick up things there either.
That's why they invented CATV. And folks who get their TV from cable or satellite don't matter for this discussion.
Paul's problem is that Spamhaus tracks spam by IP, and SOME spam originates from his IPs because they are shared resources.
Sure, but any idiot could see that the vast, vast majority of the users of that IP were not spammers. Since Spamhaus is not an automated blacklist, it's clear that a human being of some authority made a conscious decision to blacklist many, many times more innocent victims than spammers.
This is quite different from SPEWS which had the technology at their disposal to distinguish IPs, but chose not use it because the pain cause would put pressure on ISPs.
Spamhaus also chose to act regardless of the pain caused to the innocent. How is that different?
If they wanted to reclaim waste heat, it seems like they should have gone with a Stirling engine. Maybe they would have had trouble finding a 'cold side' with enough of a delta? Anyone else have any insights?
How can surfing /. be goal-oriented? You hoping for first post someday or something?

That seems about right.
Best. Support. Story. Ever.
And I don't make MPU posts hardly ever.
Turn the health powerup 45 degrees and claim to the suits "it's a red X!"

Which sounds better to you? 1536/128 ADSL or 512/512 SDSL? Or maybe even 384/384 SDSL?
I had the latter for a good long time. I now have 6m/768, but only because it was the only way to get a decent upload speed.

And you thought YOU were going to get moderated troll...
The OP's question was, "Will you be able to Vulcan Neck Pinch Intel macs into acting like Firewire or USB external hard disks?"
The answer to that, according to insiders I've spoken with, is "Yes."
My sources say, "Yes."

Better a hard disk with a window in it than a hard disk with Windows on it.
Physician, heal thyself.
"Now you HAVE learnt" or "Now you've learnt"
Indeed.

What the hell does "sentance" mean?
