news media sucks. they worked my mom up so much that she couldn't sleep out of anxiety for the passengers. i was curious about what went wrong and amazed that they could lose it, but generally didn't give a fuck...as i think most well adapted people should feel.
Maybe in 5 yrs hyper spectral imaging sensors will be cheap enough to be used in these cars...or perhaps inter-car communications will make up for the degraded sensing. For now, I'd think a solution for 95% of the time would work for most people.
from a hardware perspective, I wouldn't mind going the $250 route when upgrading my iPad. Problem is I want to stay in the ecosystem. I have all my apps and all my cloud storage and iTunes integration setup already. The $250 premium is worth it to me at the moment.
world wide recorded history is less than 500 yrs old. there were hardly an cities in the world until about 100 yrs ago. there were hardly any people in the world until about 10K yrs ago. http://www.prb.org/Publication...
Add in a stay at home mom and a kid and you really have to be frugal to make ends meet at $100K (which is about $60K take home after taxes/deductions/insurance/etc).
I feel bad for the average American family who is making $55K/yr.
Sure, agreed. But, I think the point is that 6-figures (as in $100K+/-) used to be associated with living the good life. Now it will buy you a nice modest home in a safe area with reasonably good schools while allowing you to afford health care and vacations and 401K contributions.
Similarly, 7-figures (as in $1M+/-) used to be associated with being super rich. Now it means you're very well off and well positioned in life, but you still have to work, and you still have to budget if you expect to keep growing that money for retirement.
my car engine has 90K miles on it and it's never had an issue. just minimal maintenance required. it's got plenty of life left. amazing that something so complex operating in a harsh environment requires virtually no maintenance to run for so long.
I've tried over the yrs to download the latest ver of OpenOffice and to give it a try and I always end up moving back to MSFT Word within a few days/weeks.
It's not missing features per se, it's layout/UI awkwardness and smoothness.
can the police officer force the boy to destroy evidence? what would have happened if the child refused? is that a PA law? In some states you can record.
I'd like to see what the murder rates are in the USA if you remove Hispanics and Blacks from stats. Pretty sad though, that it reinforces what we generally consider to be negative or unhealthy stereotypes as mostly valid and healthy.
Of course not all coal miners will want to be coders, but why can't you teach a coal miner to code? And why do people assume that coal miners are not interested in coding. And why do people assume they don't have the intellectual ability to handle it.

I hear google will program them with a formalized model of aggression which will be required in order to keep up with the flow of manned traffic. :)

it's a water condom.
wouldn't want to eat that.
There are degrees of uniqueness. Try developing an algorithm that sorts data on uniqueness and you will realize this.
This is it. You nailed it.
And when the iPad Air 2 comes out with TouchID at the end of this yr, there will be huge demand all over again..

Lots of people are given work phones that are not iPhones.
These are the people who will buy an iPod to remain in the iOS ecosystem.

You: Walk to door.
Game: You arrive at the door. It looks heavy and old.
You: Open door.
Game: You can't, this is a fake door.
Agreed. For me, I'd say "the good life" threshold is solid at $200K/yr. That's where the upper middle class sit.
still applies for hipsters. millions of wealthy hipsters.

Yeah, my bad, this could never happen.

BTW, consumer grade writable optical disks have a life expectancy of 10 - 100yrs depending on materials used.
It could also be blueray disk based. Not as likely as tape based, but could be cheaper/faster at scale.
I can see this for domestic flights, but I'd be pretty annoyed if it were true for international flights.
It's tied to race. DC has a very large black population. When you have that in any city, murder rates are very high. Same for hispanics.

and that ratio will lead us to fire on 40x the number of targets next time around rather than the lowering of the budget.
and now...and now...and now...it just keeps coming
