How would this work? Would you just accept a phone call stating "I need more (insert monetary value of choice), please?". Do you ship for free or do you deduct the shipping amount from the amount you send? What if I just ask you to send me 100,000 $20 bills every day...would that work? Automatically assume I need more everyday and just ship.

Or maybe I'm just taking this too far...and then I'd not be receiving my unlimited currency.

Oh and also, I think the style of musician makes a difference too. NIN, Guster just aren't like they used to be. Guster lost it's flair to me when they stopped using hand drums and added another band member. NIN just may not make a great live show.

Oakenfold, S&D, Chemical Brothers, etc don't have to worry about vocals so much, they concentrate on the music, the lighting, the sounds that come at you from all directions. Maybe that's what makes me enjoy them more. TMBG is just damned fun live.

  11. Re:Take my hard earned money, please on DRM Free Music is Everywhere · · Score: 1

The problem i have with live shows is this:

I've been to a bunch of shows, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Digweed, Chemical Brothers, NIN, and many more lately. But I've also been to shows from other styles: Guster, They might be Giants, etc.

Here's my problem...some shows are excellent, Sasha and Digweed, Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold are great live. You know why? They attract a certain style of concert goers. TMBG does as well.

NIN, Guster, almost any band that gets any form of current local radio play, they attract kids...stupid disrespectful, loud kids. Concerts aren't fun with them around. Even the Stones got this fanbase for some reason. I won't pay $200 to see a bunch of kids with their cellphones recording the show, being loud, jumping around next to me, etc.

I guess I don't really have a point other than, if you make it to any form of local radio (even Rochester has WBER, which is very accepting of independent and semi independent musicians), the shows in this area are going to suck.

Alt Nation isn't bad, but I wish they would play more stuff that wasn't from today...when Alternative was alternative and bands like soundgarden, sunny day real estate, temple of the dog, mudhoney, etc existed...

But on 2/14 they did launch a 90's alternative station and it does sound exactly like what I am looking for.

I do hope Sirius adopts XM manufacturers though, I'm sick of the aesthetically retarded 'plug and play' radios from Sirius. My father got a Inno for christmas because he wanted the MLB on XM...it's a great little portable.

Compared to the Stiletto, it's amazing. The Stiletto looks like junk comparatively. I also hope auto manufacturers start reducing the cost of the satellite frontends in the car. You can buy a GM with XM and just buy a replacement receiver for the trunk for less than $100 and it interfaces with the stock frontend in the car.

Cable cards are quite a bit cheaper than Time Warner HD DVRs. I pay $10 or $12 a month for the HD DVR, but the cable card only costs $3 a month.

The real issue is that Cable Card v1 sucks. Its only one way which means you don't get anything that you benefit from Digital Cable but HD. You can't get onDemand, "start over", or any other interactive feature that the SciAt box offers. Some may belive that it's a benefit, but I do enjoy watching some movies onDemand when I get board of my DVD collection and nothing good is on Discovery, Science, History, FoodTV or etc.

But it does open the market for choice. The problem before is that if you hooked up a Tivo to your digital cable, you'd only get the analog choices. Now, hopefully this forces scientific atlanta and the cable companies to do useful things or at least make the dvrs suck less
