    On yahoo mail with a mail address used every place you can imagine, I get 1 misidentified spam in Bulk mail weekly and 1 spam not filtered every 5 days or so.

    I gave up Hotmail when they got acquired by Microsoft but when I have seen couple of guys here getting their "hotmail" I felt really sorry for them.

    I moved to spamcop paid mail service months ago and posting it everywhere too (if they spam, their fault). Interesting is the total spam I get daily to spamcop never hits 4 a day. 3 maybe.

    Oh the reason for not using Yahoo Plus: I like to report spam to ISPs and also I expect IMAP/TLS etc support from a paid mail service in 2006. They are more important than 2-3 gb mail space which I will never use.

    Look to HP, they have both AMD 64 and Intel options. Just checked today since I had no clue for x86 prices as a G5 user myself. OK, lets skip this offtopic part.

    The "image game" is so good that you ask to Michael Dell about AMD support while Apple designs new stuff from strach without any word of AMD.

    I bet the monopoly case lawyers of AMD are really following this media frenzy.

    If we give up PPC for common desktop, I wished to have at least AMD option available.

    They have uninstall capability. In my PC times (2003) you click on add remove programs and uninstall like regular program.

    As they moved to MSI (microsoft installer built with installshield) it was even easier to stop services etc.

    If you corrupt your registry or windows somehow stupidly loses the data (happened a lot), you need that program to uninstall safely without thousands of files in protected recycle bin which are PROTECTED.

    Protected recycle bin is designed to make _you_ (and malware you run) stop from doing evil things to your files/documents so it is not very surprising that they hide it from system.

    Since famous delete.sys times of MS DOS, such utilities are protecting you from yourself in fact :)

    That is why he should uninstall Norton with methods suggested by Symantec if "add remove" fails.

    Norton unistallers ask if you want to clear protected recycle bin and there are actually people using it. Another easy method is, right click to recycle bin and click "empty protected files" before attempting to uninstall Norton.

    I don't know what version they are at now but if you actually look to Systemworks, it is not some "hit and run" $10 visual basic shareware. They are very advanced software products.

    For example they have their own kernel like layer being shared by other products.

    You people never met with some "computer users" deleting DLL files because "they are unreadable in ms word" ?

    Just ask to Microsoft why they implemented System File Protection (SFP) :)

    Their target for SystemWorks is not Slashdot posting people like you and there are people who actually DELETE these files making their system unusable.

    System admins use Symantec corparate solutions which has NOTHING TO DO with the stuff mentioned here.

    But keep bashing Symantec. It is number 2 favorite target of geeks after real networks.

    I bought it as a gift to a pure newbie computer user who is really busy with stuff rather than dll and registry hunting manually, he is happy to this day.

    IMHO he should also declare that Segway isn't meant to cross america of any sorts. It is a city "device" which even its advertisements showed people putting them to car baggage.

    I'd blame his friends for very wrong publicity of product. Jeff Bezos is the first to blame. BTW, he also said "This thing isn't the thing I saw"

    I was a Nokia 7650 user and while watching Symbian community sites, I have seen rumors about series of Symbian applications coming from Yahoo soon. (a year ago or so)

    If they managed to do the widget stuff and if they managed to code in J2ME too, it will be a big hit.

    BTW, goodly coded J2ME programs are really portable :)

    Konfabulator is better coded or differently coded and it uses less resources than Apple's copy, err whatever.

    I don't like the "idea" at all so I don't use both of them but if I used a thing like that, it would be "yahoo" one.

    Apple's stuff had no intention for end users coding their own little applications there with a bit knowledge of HTML/Javascript.

    In fact I had these little applications on my Amiga 500. One I remember was cloçk, analogue clock but it was again coded by Commodore and you couldn't say "Lets change that background".

    Look at these http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/ , are they advanced C coders? Nope I don't think so. The thing is small "widgets" which can be created with limited programming language knowledge on readable format.

    So the excuse of Apple is not very valid in fact. You know what? They will kill me for saying it but I think Microsoft Active Desktop is the "thing" shipped in IE 4.0 times is in fact invented small desktop html applications.

    On pro hardware, you can convert it to SD or lower realtime and stream it. In fact they are missing a great chance of "real life" tests on quicktime server which is called expensive by media pros.

    For example, if I was a real networks salesman, when the business asks "reliability", I'd point him/her to bbc.co.uk .

    PowerPC is huge on server,embedded and various platforms. http://www.power.org/

    It is a "architecture committee" in fact. It is not only IBM. IBM makes better publicity.

    I just didn't like Steve Jobs making funny face when he said "I promised 3 ghz". Yes he promised but a RISC CPU obviously have problems with high speeds. A computer legend like Steve Jobs knows Mhz is NOTHING in this time.

    It is all what performance you get from professionally coded, optimised applications.

    I am in video industry, nobody sees a valid reason to buy Mac arch. after Mactel announcement.

    Apple makes only 3% share of PowerPC sales for IBM. (http://www.woolsock.ca/geeklove/2005/06/apple_and _ibm_w.html ) Yes, that small customer. Will be further joke when PS3 ships.

    Xbox 360 and PS3 customers will see some amazing games running on native HDTV output. Everyone looks a bit deeper will see it runs on PowerPC architecture.

    Most important of all, I am writing this as an Apple customer here, there are no PCs here. Steve Jobs made me so mad saying lies about Power architecture so I write like a Dell guy. The "boss" of Apple became a Mhz comparing clueless Dell troll.

    As a guy could happily run Slackware on my PC, my "reason" to switch was the modern PowerPC arch. Mr. Jobs can't send me a 30% higher priced Intel. If I use Intel, it will be running Windows or Linux.

    I don't understand how "big deal" is that. Yahoo mail runs on WAP for years. Every serious mail provider including some serious ISPs have a WAP mail.

    Funny thing is, I can easily login to Spamcop webmail, one of the most advanced webmails available via Opera Mini on my cell phone to report spam etc.

    If it opens a slashdot page on my Sony Ericsson k700i (GPRS, not EDGE) faster than my broadband connected Mac, it is "more advanced".

    Gee I can even sign in to Slashdot using it.

    I am speaking about Opera Mini, the server side rendering, data compressing J2ME application.

    I hope you speak about same thing. If you are speaking about "real" Opera, e.g. the one running on Symbian, it is a damn real browser. I know people buying Symbian stuff just to use it. Especially business.

    We all wonder the price of that Windows Mobile Smartphone you use and why you bought such a device while Symbian exists for years.

    They produced some technical wonder (still can't believe it runs on 7650, 2mb RAM) and charging for it. You know, to pay wages.

    I had no problem with Windows 2000 or XP while running Intel, e.g. I am not anti Microsoft but Microsoft is a huge joke on Mobile computing. I have seen total Joe Sixpack friends NOT buying a device they loved just because it runs "Windows". I have also seen some BSOD on those devices and could not believe my eyes. I even asked whether it is some joke program or not. Nope, the OS was a joke breaking the FIRST RULE: A device should never fail.

    IE for mobile exists, it is a sad joke.

    Opera Mini runs on ANY J2ME (midlet) enabled phone. It is so good that I could post this reply using that 95kb wonder. I am signed into Slashdot even using that.

    Wireless World is different. Opera is the king there.
