    Agreed.. I've already commented on this a few times... The managers in charge of projects don't seem to be seasoned enough to understand the long term disadvantages of cloud computing...never mind the security and sovereignty issues involved. I'll say it again, some people need to put down their copy of Techwars and realize that some projects are too wide for web applications.

    We're on XP...
    They are thinking of going Vista because of the 1 on 1 MS support we have.
    Most techs here are well against any move away from XP...
    Vista II or 7 depending what your take is is not an option.
    We want out of the M$ revenue tree...
    Just code something that works and we'll pay for the patches/upgrades.
    Stop trying to sell us new stuff that just takes up more CPU cycles for no good reason.
    This industry is going nowhere fast.

    You nutbowls are letting them label you everyday... The Left, the Right, Liberal,conservative...enough already... We all have values that span the whole gamut... Calling yourself any of these is surrendering your freedom of choice. That being said, it's OK to be a conservative and hate Rush and Billo, because they're idiots, and like Olbermann because at least he does his research. But joining in just because ? It's all a game, just make sure you're not with the loons on either side of the argument.

    Why must we endure advertising on here ?
    There are so many reasons for Wireless to be a "Convenience" over a
    practical default it boggles the mind. I miss the good old days before the hype
    got the better or preogress....

    But my original point (joke ?) was that this bacteria could affect us.
    We're an awsome pool of evolutionary crap just waiting for the next super bug to either

    They can take my Windows XPSP2 from my dead rotting corpse...

    I will not be forced into a lesser product by lies and technical newbs.
    This new MS OS scheme has become so politicized that facts are few and far in between.

    We want a better, faster, more secure OS's...
    What we get is a load of DRM topped with eye candy that requires higher end PC's.
    I'm happy I don't work at M$ anymore, but sad that the corporate structure has killed off any innovation and intends to present us with multiple versions of crap.

    Dude, we're not idiots, you're just a little green under the boards... You're the guy who assumes there's one solution for a know issue... doesn't always work that way....I weep for your Clients.... Many recent visitors to my home shop had hardware issues, heat and such... You know, like the tech who stacked toghether packed the DVD/CD and 2 HDD's and made a heating block ? And if you're really smart you'll have a image of your main drive.... F O R M A T ? LOL...NOOB !!!!

    I sit on about 1200 here and after over two decades there's a list... Of course just having a ghost at the ready is optimum (we use Acronis....) But the usual suspects here are, in order: Network liability during a network slowdown. (Having too many open shares). Defrag Bad Blocks (Replace HDD) MFT at 99% (or too many MFT Fragments) Too many backround apps or loaded services (don't uncheck them in msconfig, disabled them in services or they're still loaded) Bad MBoard Malware Trjans and viruses (Very rare, this is a Gov Dept) Good luck !
