It would be nice if this would not only show the current MPG (changing based on how you were driving in the last minute or so) but also after you finished a trip gave you a summery including (when you enter the current cost of fuel), how much the trip cost.
I think the idea of an all electronic voting should be forgotten. How about having an electronic voting machine, which sends in results in real time, but also prints two copies of the result, one is placed in a box like they did before voting machines, one is a receipt for the person to take with them. Then if there is any worry about the electronic results, they can always fall back to adding the results from the boxes.
The important thing to remember is that the profit will be used to create new and better drugs - maybe even one that will actually cure AIDS. Even the profit that is returned to shareholders will cause more interest from more investors in the future, and that money will create future medical breakthroughs. I can totally see the Brazil side of the situation as well though, they have people dying NOW and simply cannot afford to pay the full cost of the medication. Very interesting situation.
Install open office and just change all the icons to look like MS office, I bet they won't even notice the difference - other than the lack of crashing, random data corruption and failure to open different formats / versions that comes with MS office
Since it still only is going to cost around a hundred bucks, there's not much stopping him (and everyone else) from throwing it in the trash if Kodak breaks it's promise of reasonable priced ink. I'll continue using my Samsung Laser printer in any case.
I think it would be a good idea to pass a law which would revoke patents from companies where most of their active income wasn't produced from actually selling the product or service which is covered by the patent.
That is - companies have to actually sell the product or service which they patented, if they don't, they can't sue anyone else for using it. As long as they actually sell the product or service which is patented, then they can sue other companies and collect royalties on the patent - but these royalties shouldn't exceed their own revenues for their own product.
A law like this would make it impossible for the patent troll companies like Acacia Technologies [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acacia_Technologies] to exist.
Since patents were created to protect inventors and encourage innovation, not discourage it! Patents aren't all bad, but software patents aren't really needed IMHO because copyright and trademark offer fair and reasonable protection I feel.
I have a friend who is in a coma after being hit by a police officer who went through a red light without lights or sirons in a non-emergency situation late at night. I think police should have to follow the rules of the road unless a) it is an emergency and b) they have either their lights or siron on (perferably both)
I think the best use of web applications will be to complement, not replace, desktop applications. I prefer to use a fatapp for my email because of faster searching and offline reading and writing emails - but I use webmail when I don't have access to my laptop. I would like to have the same ability with office applications.
I think it's not very likely that a consumer level radio transmitter would "take a plane down" more likely that they can, and probably do on some older planes cause some interference with the navigation equipment. Not a critical problem in good weather, but could cause pilots a minor headache in staying on course etc.
I've done the same, house wired for networking, and I'm loving my new dlink gigabit router for transferring movies etc. between computers upstairs and downstairs in my house.
Also bought a Leviton networking control box to keep everything organized - pretty neat. Everything is on UPS as well so when the power goes out - most of the time either my Cable or ADSL connection will keep running and I stay online no matter what. Planning on adding a Yahoo portable broadband internet soon as well.
I've got a wireless router that I use sometimes when I want to work on my laptop out by my pond in the backyard, but much of the time I leave it turned off.
I've got a few dozen old WAPs plugged into various locations - funny part is they have no computers or internet connected. I love it when someone wastes their time hacking into them, it makes my whole day when I check them and see that someone has...
Increase the yearly fee to a minimum of $50 / year like to used to be with InterNIC. If ICAAN changed this to the minimum prices that accredited domain name sellers could charge, I'm pretty sure that 99% of registered domains would be dropped.
Just like the patent system - patents are quite expensive to maintain so the vast majority of them are dropped each year and not kept. (not that I'm a fan of the patent system)
I wish there were online banking which would only allow me to view my ballance, or pay bills (in full or part) which I've setup in advance at my local branch with my adviser.
Get rid of all the online banking crap that allows transfer to other people/accounts... that is just asking for trouble and that is what checks are for.
Then even if someone got my bank username/password, there wouldn't be much trouble they could cause with it.

Actually it kind of makes sense, once your first copy is infected by spyware, you can switch to the next one nice and fast.

If anything, this company should PAY GOOGLE for the months where it was making $500,000 from being in free Google search results.
This would be a really good idea, kind of like a lojack for your ipod :)

Would be nice for air travel as well to have something to read. DVDs are a lot ligher than printed encyclopedias.

Very nice movie - thank you!
What about CentOS? That would be my choice :)

Even just a second hard drive would do the trick - just make sure it's already formatted and you use it once in awhile for webbrowsing etc.
Simple - someone must have r00ted internetnews.com and their IIS

There's two kinds of geeks, those under 120 pounds, and those over 300 pounds - not much in between :)
and that is why I will NEVER buy RIAA artist content again. as long as I live, and I will laugh and those who do.
When can I go for a ride in the particle accelerator?
