Oh there is worse stuff. Have fun machining tungsten carbide, I'll be waiting here with a laser in case you decide your regular stuff isn't 'cut' out for the job!
Apparently you weren't alive in the 80s, when a kid with a Worlds of Wonder Lazer-Tag gun got shot by a cop that thought it was a real gun, despite the fact the gun looks like an over-sized Star Trek:TNG Romulan Disruptor...
You must have a similarly short memory. Leisure Suit Larry had those questions to prove you were an adult playing the game, not a child (due to the explicit themes in the game.)
Induction charging, that's rather inefficient. Better to fit the trains with connection pads at the bottom, and have them stop along a solid-contact charging strip in the designated stop area, for direct-wire charging.
If you couldn't be bothered to RTFA just two fucking paragraphs in, I have serious doubts whether posting this information will get you to do anything or not. You seem too lazy to be much more than a REMF armchair quarterback.

"When you use electricity to power your porn, that porn doesn't pass through the electricity company to get to you. "
Uhhhhhh, broadband over powerline?
Still more functional than Windows Millennium.
Come out to the Inland Empire and you'll see that, no, she was not speaking metaphorically.
Yes.
React never got off the ground? It's still rolling along just fine.

No need for the emulator coming years later.
Just watch us break the fuck out of this since it's much more PC hardware than Cell.
Hell, most PCs right now could probably walk on this thing (excepting the 78** series GPU.)
I know my 8-core with 16GB RAM and a dedicated 2GB GPU would walk all over the system even with the OS overhead AND real-time AV installed.
GDDR5 is just DDR3 optimized for raw throughput. DDR3 has lower latencies.
"This is a small part of the internet called slashdot that has an explicit english language bias."
Language bias, not location bias.
The internet is a GLOBAL arena.
You think Japanese people can't speak English?
Such a narrow mind you have.
Ahh, yep. UNIX had that and more long ago, as did WYSE system shit.
BS patent
Actually, GT5 doesn't do 1080p. it does 1280x1080 and only the menus and such are actual 1920x1080.
The majority of my games are Japanese, not American. Almost all of these render true 1080p.
Try again when you're more aware of the world outside of English-speaking forums.
And as I said before, if it's not FPS (or TPS) it's almost guaranteed to be 1080p.
Almost every game listed in your chosen link is an FPS or TPS.
And even then, that's one horribly small and outdated list.
That's just off the top of my head out of my several hundred title library.
But I can bet you if it's not an FPS, it's almost guaranteed to be rendered 1080p.
"I know that in theory the PS3 can render at 1080, but in reality basically nothing does."
Mortal Kombat, Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, all of these are 1080p true-resolution games.
You might want to redo that number, considering several 'generations' are just fucking rebadges of prior-gen tech.
"They tried this, but the contacts corroded and were nearly impossible to clean."
Gold plated contacts tend to not corrode and only need a quick wipe.
You'd waste more money just on the induction losses versus a bottle of windex and a paper towel.
Except Halo was also on PC. Whoops, try again with some reference that makes sense.

Much less to maintain, too.

Go read some of his articles, sometime.
Obvious shill.
Some of the first TED Talks had an actual product to solve the issue being discussed, or to prove/demonstrate a point being discussed.
Like the self-propelled 'creature' that walked the beaches.
Now it's all talk, no solution.
Love me some SMT. All you need is a good heat gun, oven, or even a cold-solder tool.
