Does anyone know if there's an accurate list of labels that are members of the RIAA? The list on their site has the name of every label they could find, including independent ones.
Owners of other DAPs are usually more geeky, and know about the DRM in subscription services. Some iPod owners think the iTunes music store is the only way to get music on it...
XHTML 1.1's name is misleading, it's really just modular XHTML 1.0. Unless you plan on taking advantage of its modular features, there's no reason to use it over 1.0 strict.
PlaysForSure just means it has the ability to play DRM files. Cowon, iRiver, etc are labeled as PlayForSure, but they work fine in Linux and play ogg and mp3 files.
Sure, OSS is better for the user, free, etc, etc. But we have no right to tell authors how to release software that they spent months writing. If Joe Sevenpack wants to release his new software under a license that says you can only use it if you have six fingers, he has a right to.
I don't understand what "service" you have to pay for if you use TiVo or the PVR's cable/satellite companies provide. From what I know, the only purpose is to record shows to a hard disk, and play them back later... what the hell is the monthly fee for?
19 men have just been arrested for participating in a warez group. It has been estimated that they stole nearly $3,000,000 of GNU software.

The first time I heard about it, I thought it had something to do with the metal band Rhapsody.

If anyone is looking for a job, I hear sony's got some positions open in their music department.

Will it run on my NetBSD toaster?
What iPod user records with their iPod? What iPod user even knows what Vorbis or FLAC are? Who cares?
The people who do are the ones who will look at the alternatives before blindly going out and buying an iPod...
Telling someone to Microsoft for the answer just doesn't sound the same as googling for it...
...that 40% of computer users don't know what a browser is. Let alone what an operating system is, or being able to install one.
I hate Linkin Park as much as anyone, but sometimes their lyrics are pretty damn accurate...
