I've tried it a few times and really do not like it... there is a lot of whitespace... comments don't stretch across horizontally from side to side so there's a big white empty column on the right side. Increasing the font size doesn't really do much except squeeze comments closer together in a weird way. It's not for me.
Snowden has stated that he doesn't have the documents anymore. So it's not up to him what to save for last. IIRC three journalists have access to the full trove of documents (greenwald, poitras and someone else).
Judge for yourself. Here's the 'slaughter' scene from the documentary ("The Cove") made about this ancient practice. They had to sneak in cameras disguised as rocks because the local authorities were all over them 24/7,
I wonder just how far that extends because if someone claims global warming/climate change is a big load of bullshit... is that the same thing as denying the holocaust? Both are equally false statements according to different (or the same) groups of people.
I'm just using those as examples.. those are not my personal opinions.
If the phone is locked up with a PIN they can't force you to divulge that information without a warrant, correct? A pattern/gesture lock might be the wiser choice though.
what does this mean, "Trucking Generations of Scientific Data To the Dump" ? Is trucking something to somewhere meant to be a pejorative because trucking useful goods is an vital part of our economy. This shouldn't be made fun of or disparaged just because it's what many people consider 'manual labor'... Who decided that on that language? It's very troublesome.
Where I grew up in Canada disruptive students were given a chance to change their ways but if things didn't change they were sent to a special school filled with other problem cases. I don't know if this still goes on but it was probably the most practical solution to accomodating students that wanted to learn.
The Google+ integration with Youtube has forced me to turn comments off on my channel and link people to my own domain where I use Disqus for comments. I only have 7200+ subscribers but the new comments sections on youtube is unwieldly and very difficult to manage, especially because it's combined with Google+.
For all of the crimes the SEC has been oblivious to for the last two decades, and they are numerous, and they want to regular crowdfunding? Tsk, Tsk
Might be an interestin endeavor when they're not surfing porn on the job. But are they that bored? Or justing waiting out their 3 year stints when they grab a hot job on wall street..... tsk tsk
If that happens it would be an environmental catastrophe and they would be held liable for any damage done to the ecosystem. I'm sure they'll get it out of there!
I get the point your making.. and if slashdot sticks with the the "beta" format I would rather spend my time on reddit. The reddit format is closer to my heart than what I'm seeing on the/. beta

How all of the comments about Beta are being moderated to ZERO or worse since that recent story.
Stay strong people... uprate slashbeta comments despite this blatant attack on the userbase.
It's time to renounce slashdot beta and promise it will not be back. No more doublespeak.

Slashdot Beta really stinks.. please dump the whole thing!
Anybody have a greasemonkey script that will fix the beta site? I've tried to use it but just don't like it.

It was an interesting movie that's for sure. It was amazing the lengths they had to go through to get everything on film.
