    But Linux is FOSS, OSX isn't (well, darwin is, but that's not the point). Unix is great, and I much prefer a Unix like OS over windows, but I also would much rather it be free and open.

    I'm currently running Ubuntu on a cutting edge gateway laptop. It's running fine, everything was detected except wireless, and it took me 5 minutes to set that up using ndiswrapper

    I think what we're going to see soon, and are already starting to see in xandros (a great distro for technophobes) and Lindows (or whatever it's called now, I'm too drunk to try to remember) is a split in the directions distros are going, there will soon be distros as user friendly and power-userunfriendly as windows. Now to try and decipher the text image... danm, now to try again

    back in the 80's there was a program called HIV information that was sent on floppy to a bunch of people in the medical community. In the lisence of the software there was a warning that if they didn't pay for it there would be repurcussions. On something like the 30th usage of the program it would encrypt all the files on the hard drive and demand a ransom to unencrypt them.

    I'm not sure it would matter, a lead slug isn't heavy enough for the terminal velocity to cause any serious damage to a person. I've seen someone get hit with a penny dropped off a tall building. He went "OUCH!" and got pissed off, but his head didn't implode or anything like that.

    If the government of the United States were as bad as you seem to imply, then you would be posting anonymously out of fear. Assuming you are a citizen of the USA, if not, then You're buying into alarmist propaganda that people are spreading here. The direction Bush is leading us in is dangerous, but he hasn't won yet.
