If a professor had made similar comments about an African-American studies course debunking the civil rights movement or a Jewish course debunking the Holocaust he would have been fired on the spot. Promoting intolerance and hatred is not acceptable at a university. Kudos to the university for putting this asshat in his place. If you don't believe in Intelligent Design then fine, that's your opinion, but don't go around bashing people's beliefs and calling them names. That kind of trash talk has no business in an academic setting.
Maybe you could get a life and DO something with it rather than waste it on being a passive couch potato...
Ummm, DUH, that's why I have a PVR in the first place. When I'm bored I can check out what's recorded on my PVR rather than being tied to the television schedule. I watch TV when *I* want to, not when the programmers want me to. Now, if you want to sit in your ivory tower and sip your $10 a cup lattes and debate whether television programs are worth watching, be my guest, but I find some of them to be an entertaining diversion from real life.
His scheme could have (not definately, but there is a chance) been discovered, and then it would have been a simple matter of looking at the security tapes and seeing who the offender is.
What if the shopper is wearing a ski mask? Do you refuse to sell stuff to him?
That's odd. I use a 1GHz Via EPIA M10000 to watch MPEG2 video I record with a PVR250 card on a separate backup system... no problems at all and CPU usage is very low. Perhaps you had something misconfigured? I don't really care about HDTV so this was all just regular analog cable recorded at 720x480 with a variable bit rate up to 8Mbits/sec.
Maybe, just maybe this will help end the new era of TV stations stretching their shows one (or like Cold Case, several) minutes later than their scheduled run time.
Cold Case doesn't run long because the show is more than 1 hour long, Cold Case runs because of the god damn football games running long, then that pushes 60 Minutes back and then Cold Case can start anywhere from 5-45 minutes late. I wrote a letter to CBS about this idiotic schedule they have but I of course received no response.. why would I? They don't care about DVR users since we don't watch their commercials. Other stations that usually play NFL football games either do (or used to at least) put crap shows for about an hour after a football game was scheduled to end so that if the game went longer than the time allotted they could cut into the show.
What I've had to resort to doing is setting Cold Case to record for an extra 60 minutes to ensure I catch the ending, but this in turn conflicts with other shows I want to record in the 9pm hour on Sunday (Desperate Housewives, Law and Order, etc.). Since I've only got two tuners in my PVR right now I need to decide which I don't get to watch because CBS's incompetent fall schedule. Soon I'll be adding a third and fourth tuner to the MythTV box so this will become less of an issue, but it still leaves me with a 2 hour recording block for a 1 hour show just because they can't nail down their time slots.
Quite a few people complain about Best Buy not honoring rebates for a myriad of reasons but again, I follow the instructions on the rebate form they give me at the time of purchase, send them in and usually have a rebate check within 3 weeks.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could just fill out the form right there at the register, drop it in a box, and walk out the door, but I never remember to send the damn form in by the postmark date (soemtimes a month later) so I almost always miss out on rebates. I also hate the fact that I need to give them the original UPC from the box.. there's no reason for that and if they "lose" it then you're screwed and have no proof of purchase.
What if your CD is lost, or scratched? You expect to get a shiny new one at the store you bought it from?
Since I'm just buying a license to listen to the music, yes, I expect to be able to receive a replacement CD if it's scratched or even lost if I have proof I bought it.
Amateur radio (at least in the USA) is regulated, but not owned or rented out. Unfortunately it has too many strings attached to the licensing with regards to banning encryption and commercial use to make it a viable WiFi replacement. That doesn't mean there couldn't be a licensed amateur radio-like band set aside for commercial and home WiFi use. It would just mean the responsible operator would need to take and pass a modest test to acquire a license and be responsible for the care and operation of the stations under his callsign. It would also do away with the chaotic nature of the 2GHz spectrum where you have absolutely no idea who the 20 people with access points around you are or any recourse to contact them in order to resolve a frequency dispute without going door to door.
It's kind of sad they're still like that by the way. I went to the X10 website looking to buy some extra lamp modules for a kit I had bought years ago and their site looks like they're constantly going out of business. I think I'll just pick them up from Radio Shack instead.
I don't look up at my screen most of the stuff I am typing, its just in the peripheral vision most of the time. I know what I'm typing and expect it to be displayed as typed.
A good touch typing course can help with this problem. Rather than hunting-and-pecking for keys on your keyboard you can watch the screen and see exactly what is going on.:-)
But he's already running older versions of Office. They didn't just magically stop working when Office 2003 came out and they're going to be a lot more compatible with the Word document format than OpenOffice is. The only ones that tolerated us using OpenOffice to munge Word documents were other techies who could tolerate the formatting being screwed up on internal company forms. If I wanted to make sure it looked right I'd have to boot up VMWare on my Linux box and use OfficeXP.
Anyway, DVD John can actually sue Sony for all *revenue* that Sony made from the sale of the CDs, if I'm not mistaken (not just profits). That would grab them where it hurts!
I think Sony already got the message since they're recalling all those CDs. I wouldn't blame Sony too much since they're just trying to stop pirates from copying their music, but they should've done a more thorough job of investigating the technology that First 4 Internet uses to accomplish that.
This is all so ridiculous. It's not like Sony even asks the user if they want this crap installed. Where would they even put the copyright notice? Of all the underhanded nonsense...
This is the problem with the viral nature of the GPL and even the LGPL licenses and is why you should really consider using BSD licensed software in your DRM rootkits in the future. Screw the FSF!
A 60G iPod is equally cheap and convenient. Just not as small.
Where can I get a 60GB iPod for $138? Don't say eBay either since I prefer to buy new equipment not someone else's used garbage with a questionable history.
But what he's saying is that he wants to take his villain and go into Freedom Plaza and start PvP attacking superheroes.:-) That would be fine since those police robot things could just kill you, but I don't think it'd be fun if you had a level 50 villain going around killing level 3 or 4 heroes just because he's bored. I wonder how WoW deals with stuff like that.. can high level characters not attack low level characters?
So does Microsoft. It's called SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and the SQL 2000 version was called MSDE. I'm not arguing that vendor lockin sucks, but I'm just mentioning that there is a "free" (as in beer) lite version of SQL 2005 Server.

Just use the same litmus test I do, if Fark considers it NSFW then it goes in the .xxx domain.
Not all adults have a computer either. Those obviously aren't the people they are targetting this service to.
The Mozilla mirrors are very fast.. no need to waste time with Bittorrent on this one.
Are you insane? Do you know how much empty XBox 360 boxes are fetching on eBay these days? Set it on top of your old Xbox instead.

That alone is reason enough to not use it for a server.

Maybe for etch or sid, but sarge doesn't have any packages named linux-image-*. The article says it will support these chipsets on Debian sarge.

This article would be even cooler if the pictures would load.

The ISP had to have ISDN lines on their side going into their modem bank.
Or two nerds with an axe. Just take out the cow's legs and it'll topple right over... this isn't rocket science.
