Greece actually. And modern research (no link handy) suggests they weren't going to attack in May anyway.
I have an outline of a business strategy book that uses Hitler's invasion of the USSR as an overarching counterexample. I suppose the biggest lesson would be: don't follow a man in the throws of methamphetamine psychosis any further than the corner store, and bring anything he says you won't need.
The iPod Mini is about $50 too expensive for what it is.
But there isn't anything quite like it for $200.
...but they don't know how to compete in the larger market.
Supply constraints. Apple could lower their price on the miniPod to $200, but their supplier isn't making enough tiny hard drives to meet demand at that price. Incidentally, their suppliers aren't selling them these first-generation drives cheaply enough to make a $200 unit anyway.
No, but it's a Good Thing (still) that Microsoft is getting keynote time, and for a new Office. Apple has been putting pressure on Microsoft altely, Keynote is much better than PowerPoint for example. And the project-tracking features in Office 2004 might be worth it, if they rewrite Entourage completely - that giant sucking sound just took your mail with it. Honestly, Outlook 2001 handled large local mail stores much better than Entourage does.
The guys at Genentech must be having heart spasms today. They do a lot of Altivec-optimised calculations, and between XGrid and the G5 XServes they're in hog heaven right now. Any Mac-equipped research facility is now sitting on an extra supercomputer they don't have to pay for.
Imagine that, an extra supercomputer.
Lockheed and Boeing are excited. Everyone in biotech is going nuts. Everybody's IT department should be thinking: what could we do with a crapload of extra CPU ?
A couple of weeks after an air conditioning failure we had something fry on the local fileserver. Hmmmm. Coulda been worse, although the next time someone tries to save $2k by not repairing the backup compressor THEY get to stay up all night.
Which I did. I got paged in at 8:30. HPaq dispatched a tech at 11:30. He got there at 3:30 with parts. The server was online at 6:30. You MUST have 24/7 onsite support for any server that *could* cost you money if it's not available.
We had plans for everybody with a substantial navy. War Plan Red covered the British Empire with special reference to Canada. War Plan Black contemplated a conflict with the Germans. After WW2 started we began making plans to fight Germany and Japan, thus the Rainbow plans were born.
Well, Groklaw has been cited by IBM in court filings (once) but I don't thinks the site (however good) is going to affect IBM's legal strategy much. What Groklaw et al can do that IBM can't is to bring together a LOT of people with unique insights into Unix history, they provide the classic "Hey, I wrote that !" moments (Jay Schulust (sp?) and the BPF for example)>
Actually, we rip on the French precisely because we aren't staring the possibility of a nuclear war in the face. We have room to bluster, or at least give the French a hard time publicly.
Apple has been very busy lately, haven't they ? Right now I'm getting the Xcode and Security updates. Only bad part is, I typed the desktop root pword from the office. I'm gonna have to make that an extra admin account at home. On secodn thought, I'll use the root pword from YOUR office !
The Russians once managed to capture an invading fleet (Swedish iirc) with cavalry, because the bay they were anchored in had frozen over.

Boot it into Linux, copy the file to a USB Smart Disk (tm, probably) and do much the same at your friend's house. Inconvenient at best.
That'd make an interesting promotion for Apple, order an iPod or buy songs and you get entered to win the iTMS collection on one of these.
Hmmmm.....
At least the parent troll is remotely ontopic for once.
I meant compared to where they are now. Dual G5 1U Xserves and Xgrid is better, not new, but sufficient to get 'em excited all over again.

Sounds like a good use for XGrid.

I haven't seen a DNS problem in close to a year.

Leprosy (Hansen's Disease for the pedantic) would be my choice to inflict on them.

Read the article, www.gamestudies.org is a site devoted to the scholarly treatment of sprites and blits.
If you're gonna flame somebody for spelling, be sure and hit all of the misspellings.
New for 2004, the Flame Flame.
Funny, the camera worked for me. Play with the options some, everyone likes their lock-on different.
Which is why it sucks that tehre are only two options.

Not quite. We don't want to have to find and fix 'em or document the API ourselves. Microsoft should do it.
You could probably sell Daikatana toilet paper in the States.

In Soviet Russia, password changes YOU !
Or Strawberry Shortcake as B&D/S&M sim...
Thank you Gabe & Tycho, I'm very happy I got a copy of that parody before evil corporate lawyers had every copy scoured off of the Internet.
They probably signed up to use the Half Life 2 engine. That's a nine month delay they can't be blamed for. Much.
