Have a look at the JVC HD-ILA projection, and the new SOny equivalent. The use reflective LCD (non-organic), and are icredibly bright. One of the reviewers of the JVC said something like "If you watched the winter olympics on this at max brightness, you'd get a tan".
Have a look at HDTV and then say you don't need the new format. Once you've seen HD, you really can't go back. On large TVs, the current DVD format leaves a bit to be desired... it just isn't HD.
Don't know about you, but I've had a bad record working with people hired mainly based on certifications. They did tend to know most of the terminology in the field, but could not apply it.
I tend to be of the opinion that certifications are a great way to make money. Not for the certifications themselves, but in training people to pass them. Most of the courses seem geared to give students an 'inside track' on the tests.
Why? Because the podcasts are closer to my interests, they treat me as an intelligent, thinking, emotional human being, not a pair of eyes to be dazzled with tits and explosions.
Hey, some of us _really like_ tits and explosions.
I have no beef with the performance, especially the io bandwidth. A big part of the problem is with the people. The "because that's the way we've always done it" attitude seems t prevail. It's obviously a generalization, but I find the old mainframers to be completely unwilling to listen to new ways of doing thigs, regardless of obvious advantages.
How many of you have tried using the old 3270 based interface. In most cases I can't imagine a worse way to manage an OS. Their unix service now offer a better alternative interface, but not everything can be managed from it. If they want to keep these systems running, create a new, more usable interface, GUI or not... it doesn't matter. Pretty much anything would be an improvement.
As it stands it hard to train people, as many things can't be figured out, they must be memorized. Dataset names, etc, tend to be obscure an non-descriptive. As one poster mentioned, prehaps it's people trying to keep their jobs.
Don't forget to factor in the retail markup. I doubt the retailers are selling this with no markup, but I suppose it's possible.

What was that old expression .... "Don't screw with Mother Nature"?

Some banks (at least 1 here in Canada) allow longer PINs. I have a couple that are significantly longer.
Give NetBeans a try as well. Very similar, some features are better, some are not, but in general, an outstanding java/etc IDE.
Really? I was sure it was D.C.
I'd spout off some disparaging comments about lawyers, but am now afraid to ....
