    An excellent marketing idea.

Man, I can't believe I actually said those words. It does seem like some sort of public push is needed though. If it doesn't happen, I can see the OS being relegated to support systems and techies only for the next ten years. Too bad too ....

  4. Days are Numbered on Sony's PS3 Strategy Brilliant or Insane? · · Score: 5, Insightful

No matter how brilliant they may be, or how badly they screw up, I wouldnt expect this to be the end of the PS. Fanboy support alone should get them near at least a break even point. I think their biggest threat these days would be the hype over the xbox360. If MS can get a major hardware volume release, combined with a couple of good games just before Sony deploys they should be able to slap down the Sony marketing a bit.

In any case, it should be interesting.

Perhaps what we need is for one or more major companies supporting it to put out some bucks and do a bit of television advertising to get the word out to more than just those of us currently "in the know". It would be a nice chance to get the word "linux" out to the uninformed masses and head off any MS FUDD.

I'm sure the word 'FREE!' would grab Jow SixPack's attention as well.

Damn, the lack of spelling errors is probably giving me away.

Blocking images on emil is an unreasonable step that shouldn't be required. Major companies use HTML with images in advertising, and some of us acually request to be sent those adds. Simply viewing an emain should not need to be a restricted operation. Removing a users ability to perform common tasks is not an acceptable way to enforce security, it's just hiding the problems.

Even if it didn't improve skills, it would certainly reduce the number of drivers on the road.
