Love to see that sum over here! In the uk, under £5000 is small claims court. So they sue me, I say ok, wait until it goes to court, don't turn up, they win, the bailiffs come round to collect and... I don't let them in. As they have no rights (IANAL, but my lecturer is, and i got this from her) to enter a property w/out permission, they get £0. Then the BMI/*AA get their... £0... which after their expensive lawyers fees of £10,000 ish means they get a whopping £-15,000 for suing me... Cool!
I agree totally. I've recently grabbed a copy of irate - rate & download freely released & CC'd music, by unknown bands - no license fees to anyone. The only downside of this is that now I want to go see a load of bands in other countries (e.g. Quick Fix - Boston, Girl With A Monkey - Stockholm)
Until the guys who first downloaded the tracks from you (legal copying, with license to distribute) come forward, give evidence you publicly released your music, and you get a class action from 10,037 people for (slander/libel - I can never remember which is which).
"We can't let any other nation learn the secrets of robust software development, or democracy will die!" - You haven't been to MS headquarters recently, have you;)
If you can't get it to work, grab a copy of vlc http://www.videolan.org/ - I've had files that media player makes unwatchable run fine in it... Should (iirc) also come with a whole bunch of codecs included as well...
This is the first film for *years* I've actually wanted to go see before it was released... It's also probably going to be the first film *ever* I'll watch more than once at the cinema. Here's hoping some bright tv exec will decide to make another series... At least finish the plotline well, the cliffhanger at the end of series one is pretty much justification for murdering Fox executives on sight...
With a water-rifle full of blue paint... How many Windows in Redmond can *you* blue-screen;)

Just as an aside, LSD compared to most chemicals has No health problem causing potential (esp. compared to common chemicals such as paracetamol, nicotene or alcohol). It's definatly non-toxic (nobody's yet found the OD level for acid. ever.) It *DOES* cause serious mental rewiring which may or may not lead to a) latent mental problems becoming more severe b) dopamine pathways being funged, causing flashbacks c) a tendancy to concentrate on things that are generally good in life (such as nature, religion, art & love), and d) confrontation leading to solution of mental health problems. Just my $0.02
Considering Hitlers strategy first, are you honestly telling me Hitler would go to war with France, England, (possibly Italy depending on what concessions we gave them), most probably America & given the opportunity to retake poland (which they did later in the war) the USSR all on the same day? He wasn't that aggressive early on - "victories" in Austria & Czechslovakia were responsible for his ego expanding to the point where poland and france looked like viable options.
Next, appeasment started from the point at which Germany started breaking the terms of it's peace after WWI - which IIRC included virtually No Navy, Airforce & a standing army of 30,000... If we had hit them HARD when they started breaking those terms, chances are WWII (at least one started by the Germans) would not have happened. Also, "Appeasment can mean saying "Nice doggie" while you look around for a big rock." - this is true, but we wern't looking for rocks - when we finally went to war (again IIRC) our army was actually *smaller* than it was at the time we began appeasement.
Finally, Hitler won in France a offensive war against a surprised nation (their defencive line was supposed to be impenetrable - indeed it was, Hitler just skirted round it). It is questionable he would have had the same victories if the French had gone on the offensive (or indeed if anyone else had read the definitive text on Blitzkreig strategy, which was IIRC widely available in military libraries...)
My personal opinion is that appeasement did work out badly - one or two well placed spies (assuming we had been prepaired to use force) could have saved countless millions of lives...
Problem there is that then when the theif steals your bag (with phone inside) he has *everything* he needs to run up a *HUGE* cc bill... Phones and banks shouldn't mix,
Thanks... I actually mean that - I really appreciate the faults in my country being picked out, as I don't always see them, and if you can't see your own faults, you'll never get better:)
In real life you can't buy a cup of coffee +1... oh wait... Hang on, in real life, you don't own a big sword and randomly kill small defencless (i.e. anything smaller than you) creatures for fun. Do you?
Good thing: Ideally, this would mean *everyone* could get lectures on key course modules by the best in the business... Imagine a course on games design, with lectures from Sid Meier, or general programming with lectures fron Knuth. Obviously with todays system, such lectures could only be possible at one university or a one off circuit at best... but with audio/vis recordings every university/college could benefit.
I would post a list of anti-democratic and self serving actions by the US over the last 100 yrs, but it'd be trolling and would also upset me (I do actually admire the ideals America was built on); anyone who wants to can google the facts for themself... I *wish* people would start admitting the faults in their own countries:'( I'm british, and i can admit we've done some really crappy stuff in the past (appeasment, Colonizing america/australia, colonialism, various european wars, selling arms to "Bad People" - just for starters) - i think this is reason for the general low opinion of the US globally - they just won't admit they make mistakes:( Mod this however you want - flamebait even - I'm depressed at the death of idealism now... bloody secret polic^H^H^H^H^Hservices:(
Ahhh troll tuesday... Right up there with Orange wednesdays (evil evil uk mobile company for anyone that don't know, *really* crappy adverts) & flamebait friday as my least favourite day of the week...

I had a badge once. It read "Don't steal, the government doesn't like the competition".
Never mind the darwins - good thing the guy did this - imagine if he'd decided to emulate a rampage instead, or gone round shooting cops with a uzi...
I second that comment... Well done folks!
