A real nerd would already have hundreds of terabytes of porn videos downloaded from bittorrent and would thus be uninterested in some crummy myspace pics.
But does QBasic come preinstalled on Windows? The author of the article whined about computers not having tools for "line-programming" (whatever that is) already included. It's a huge problem because, you know, no kids anywhere know how to use the internet. And they of course don't know how to ask for help in getting something setup.
But even if a kid wanting to get into programming is running Windows and is completely incapable of downloading anything, they can always just run some JavaScript in their browser.
Practically every PC game you see on the shelf in a Gamestop / Best Buy / Walmart / Wherever is written for DirectX.
Now, unless you're saying the past 10 years of videogames are all "problems"...
Several consoles use a modified version of OpenGL, so OpenGL games are more popular than DirectX games. You seem to be ignoring consoles just because you prefer PC games.
It is not something plant growers have been "doing for hundreds of years" or anything like that, and it doesn't happen in nature.
Do you realize that you are arguing on a tech site that anything that is unnatural or anything that we haven't been doing for hundreds of years is bad?
Being new doesn't mean it's bad. Being unnatural doesn't mean it's bad.
Until you give up TV, computers, modern medicine, and everything else that is unnatural or hasn't been around for hundreds of years, you are a hypocrite.
So just 'contaminate' fields in the rest of the world. When all rice has this stuff mixed in more people will eat it. And when nobody ends up instantly exploding in a ball of fire and lightening maybe people will stop being so damn retarded about genetically modified food.
Yes, displaying an error message in a billion languages instead of just the language the computer is setup to use is definately much more helpful. You know, just in case you forgot how to read your prefered language at the exact same time that the kernel crapped out. You do know a backup language for those times that you forget the primary one, right?
A TV that supports digital inputs and a resolution anywhere near 1920x1200 is going to cost much more than an equivalent computer monitor. My 20.1" flatpanel monitor with 1600x1200 resolution and DVI-D input cost less than $200. There's no way I could find a TV that good for even twice that price.
*sigh* Can't you think at all? Cellphones that can take video clips are not uncommon. You know, of a ballot dropping into a box. And there are billions of other ways.
With secret ballots, person A can't tell how their bribed or threatened voters voted
You're really retarded if you think that.
briber: "If you vote for Mr. Evil and take a picture of the ballot with this camera, I'll give you a Big Mac." homeless person: "Make it a Happy Meal."
There are clear sheets of material that go over license plates that are supposed to prevent cameras from reading your plate number. I have no idea if they work (seems unlikely), but I know they are illegal here. I was just comparing how similar that would be to criminalizing the covering up of a mic or camera, to illustrate that it isn't as unlikely as it first seems.
Also, don't forget that these cameras are run by the government, and thus could easily be used to track the movements of vehicles and keep records of where people are going and spending their time. There's a lot of potential for abuse.
Do you not realize that DR-DOS, PTS-DOS, and OpenDOS are all under proprietary licenses? They may be legal and freely available, but there's still very good reason for FreeDOS.
What is this mysterious "Dotslash" that you speak of?
In a small town $42,000/year is plenty to live a quite comfortable life.
The words "genuine" and "illegal" aren't antonyms. It is entirely possible for something to be both genuine and illegal or non-genuine and legal.
I think he was just pointing out that 'silent' letters can infact affect the way the words are pronounced.

If you're looking for a domain registrar, try 1&1. I don't know anything about their hosting services though.

If I wanted to see sigs I wouldn't have turned them off.
That is by far the creepiest looking robot I have ever seen.

You mean like 3 1/2" floppies, audio CDs, and DVDs? Yeah, those shitty Sony super-proprietary formats really suck.
You misspelled "Ctrl+Q".

Then you must really hate digg.
It made me chuckle.
