  12. isnt anyone taking into account EVERYONE has a PC on Will Next-Gen Consoles Kill Off PC Gaming? · · Score: 0

no one seems to be pointing out the obvious, that almost everyone needs and owns a PC. Its easier just to pay an extra $300 from dell and get a higher end computer that will both be more stable for regular use and okay for gaming. This rather than paying for an additional $300 toy.

PC gaming wont die for 3 reasons then in my opinion:

    1. some gamers (like me) prefer to play FPS and RTS on a pc, with a mouse and a huge keyboard they a crippled controller. Not to mention the ability to multitask means i can have p2p and audio runnin g in the background
    2. PC sales are increasing, undoubtedly people will use existing hardware for games... esspecially if they cant afford or dont want another console... this is esspecially true since even lower end computers are able to run many of the new pc games out there (aside from like doom 3)
    3. theres YEARS inbetween new consoles, but computer components are always being updated, so in those lulls i feel the consoles tend not to be the strongest players. Welcome to modern battery technology folks, it SUCKS. Apple uses the same batteries everyone else uses, its the same bloody technology. Thats why they say MAX 8 hours. They also say how to maintain the lifespan of the battery on their website and that it will reduce over time, opps i guess you forgot to read about the batteries, what while you were coming up with this lousy litagation to make an extra buck for how you feel "wronged"! But who needs to read anyway, they said max. 8 hours, so down the road 3 years later when it only gives 4, you can go and sue there asses. what a bunch of nonsense this is. Apple is the only company that i know who is even reasonable with battery life and song storage capacity... ever go to Dell's site? they claim like 3,000 songs on their 4GB player -- yeah 3k or however many when your in 32 or 64 bitrate WMA (aka maybe half of radio quality) thats reasonable isnt it? Or what about Creatives older large Zen's, they said 8 hours, that get no more than 6 hours. Id say welcome to reality people, but those that sued are probably too busy planting fingers in chili or trying to figure out a way to sue mcDonalds for making them fat. Read some reviews people! 15. its mostly on the user -- but also the industry on Whose Burden is it to Recycle Computers? · · Score: 0

i say its mostly the user because the user is the one who benefits from the use of the product, and therefore must assume responsibility of safe disposal once the product is no longer useful to them.

However i feel the industry should share the burden, as you cant just get it out the door and forget about it i think. Either by making it easier to recycle and by raising awareness -- i find i have to explain to nearly everyone looking to toss there old computer that its illegal to throw out a monitor. I think a good compromise would be for companies to offer incentives on new machine with the recycling or taking of old machine... like at an apple store (where it is most realistic due to their storefronts) if they offer you 5-10% discount on new machines if you recycle your old one, either through them or from a recycling comppany. Its a win win win, as the consumer gets rid of old hardware and gets a discount, the company (apple in this case) would sell a computer (locking them into a brand, not that apple needs more fanatics) and the environment is slightly better off. Apple actually has started doing this for ipods btw, they offer 10% discount and dispose of ipods if you bring in your old model.

Just a thought... another thing i would add is if the government really cared about people recycling computer hardware they would educate and make an effort to simplify and make it less costly to do so. How about a tax refund? anything... thats *if* they really cared, and id say the environment seems to be on the bottom of this administrations list.

Better yet, find a school and donate the computer.

With open office and stuff, honesly, microsoft is the best office suite, and how to you sell something thats inheriently free -- its not worth the time, joe user would keep asking "so is this microsoft" or "is it word, can i buy word? Do you have that" etc... its not worth the time to make such a non-sale. AS far as spyware, i agree with the guy who said that they make money by "repairing" spyware ridden machines and anti-spyware software. I guess you could make an arguement to make sure you attach anti-spyware stuff to the computer, but honestly, its probably a huge hassle for the salestaff to explain about spyware and stuff, a real time waster... esspecially for the average guy who will forget in a week and be back in a month for a spyware cleaning. Luckily after i have done this i have easy access to the title... on my phone... while im still driving... very useful? Unless someone calls i guess?
