LOL, all I can say is that you are VERY naive if you think Angela Merkel or any other politician gives a flying fuck about journalistic integrity. For Merkel, this is about one thing and one thing only: suppressing news stories that show her or her policies in a bad light.
Report on more immigrant rapes? That's fake news (no matter how many sources).
Report on how immigrants are helping the German economy? Oh, that's REAL news (even if the only source is a member of Merkel's cabinet).
Make no mistake about it, neither Merkel nor any other politician has any damned intention of applying the "fake news" label in a fair, consistent, or remotely unbiased manner. It's just a cudgel they want to use to suppress any news that makes them look bad.
It's a heartwarming tale in the summary, but the article implies that there may have been a somewhat less noble reason for the fake patron (emphasis mine):
nine city-run libraries that are part of the Lake County library system and receive a percentage of their funding based on circulation levels.
It's tempting to think the pedophilia narrative was somehow intentionally introduced by a mole to divert everyone's attention from the real story, but I've learned to never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity or incompetence. I think it this case, it was probably the case of someone just being an well-meaning idiot and going way too far with the narrative instead of starting with the simplest and most logical conclusions.
Anything that makes Merkel and her disasterous policies look bad.
This, a thousand times this. The difference between "fake news" and "real news worthy of further investigation" is all in who gets to define it, of course.
A story entitled "Watergate Hotel Break-in Has Possible Ties to Nixon White House" would have been called "fake news" by most people in 1972 (and certainly by Nixon himself).
The sad thing about "Pizzagate" is that there probably was actually a story there, but some idiot took it in the wrong direction and ruined any hope of that real story ever coming out.
The heart of the story was about strange code language being used in the DNC email leaks regarding James Alefantis, a D.C. "power player" who also happened to own the pizza restaurant in question. Now, the most obvious conclusion was that this code language probably related to some sort of skeevy shit regarding campaign donations or financing (maybe even outright bribery), shit that was important to the Clinton campaign but that they couldn't talk about openly in emails (that could potentially be subpoenaed). That was the real story, and it would have been interesting to find out exactly what that language meant and why the campaign was so nervous about talking about it openly.
Unfortunately some idiot came up with the bizarre narrative that this code language was related to child molestation and took it in the insane direction that this guy was running some sort of pedophilia ring out of his pizza restaurant. This very unfortunate narrative was easy to refute, of course, and sounded downright insane--which allowed the media to easily dismiss the story as completely false crazy ramblings. And so any hope of the REAL story coming out ended, with the story being completely dismissed as just the crazed fantasy of right-wing nutballs.
I actually really liked that movie. It's a guilty pleasure. And Dave Foley is fucking hilarious in it--though I could have happily lived my whole life without seeing full-frontal nudity from any of the Kids in The Hall.
If SJW's don't like people whining about them, maybe they should stop doing stuff like trying to censor videogames and bullying companies who make games that they don't like. Just a thought.
Well, considering that Twitter has all but declared open war on Trump in particular and conservatism in general, I hardly think it's petty for Trump to tell them to go fuck themselves. What the fuck makes them think they're somehow *entitled* to a sit-down with a President who they routinely call a racist, sexist, homophobe, clone-of-Hitler?
If I stand in town square every day and call the mayor of my town a vile cocksucker who beats puppies, should I be mad when he doesn't invite me to his Christmas party?
There's a bunch of us in those (and other states) that don't buy into being extorted by corporations, the acceptance of hate crimes against minorities, the total destruction of our natural resources, and endless wars that accomplish nothing.
And yet you passed over Bernie Sanders for a bellicose corporate whore who was pro-torture, pro-war and who spent a good deal of her campaign assuring Wall Street that she would be friendly towards them if they would donate to her campaign. Great choice!
Democrats still can't accept that there are apparently a bunch of states located between California and New England where people don't buy into the idea that all white people are evil racists and that 3-year-olds should be able to create their own genders. They just assumed that all that land that they only see from their plane windows must be empty or something.
I said there is no such thing as "European" culture. Because America has deviated to a large degree from all of those individual cultures. We have our own culture
Oh yes, because let's pretend that the U.S., Canada, and Australia don't share 99.9% of the same culture as Great Britain, including the same language and almost exact same legal/political systems, personal customs, etc. (Canada partially excluded, because of that damned Quebec). There is WAY more variation in culture and language in China than there ever has been between the UK and its English-speaking colonies, but that doesn't stop people from referencing "Chinese culture" or even "Asian culture."
Also, there is no such mentality in the progressive community to exclude whites in any way shape or form.
B U L L S H I T
The vitriol of anti-white hatred (especially white MALES) coming from the SJW left these days is fucking palpable. The level of white guilt and white self-hatred in particular would be funny if it weren't so dangerous. It's gotten to the point where I strongly suspect that we would already be seeing "Whites need not apply" addendums to many job postings if that weren't still technically illegal. Oh wait, in the UK at least, we already are.
People will pay more than $60 for a single cartridge of one Mario Brothers game (or $5 for a downloadable version for their Wii). The NES Classic is a helluva bargain by comparison.
Let's be honest here. How many people are going to buy this thing and only use ROM's they've made themselves from their own cartridges and discs? Hell, how many people would even know HOW to make ROM's for this thing?
As with pretty much all 3rd-party emulators, the creators know full well what it's going to be used for.
1) It's simple 2) It's plug-and-play 3) It's cheap (or rather, it will be when you can find them in stock)
Most other emulator consoles only succeed at #3. Most people aren't going to hunt down ROM's from skeavy pirate sites or buy overpriced old cartridges just to play old games. They want something they can just buy, plug-in, and play.
I cancelled my sub several months ago and haven't regretted it one bit.
Netflix has made the decision to go full-bore on original content and completely neglect their back catalog, and that's fine. But the harsh fact is that they will never be able to produce enough original content to make it worthwhile keep subbing for that alone. Even HBO, whose original content is much better and more consistent, still has to offer a good catalog of movies and other content to justify a monthly subscription. And Netflix's once-amazing back catalog used to be what set it apart from HBO, Hulu, and Amazon. But it has shrunk drastically in the last year or two to the point where it's getting harder and harder to find decent content.
Anyway, at a certain point earlier this year, I realized that:
1) Amazon's back catalog now rivals Netflix's. And Amazon's service essentially comes for "free" with my Prime membership (that I already keep just for the free shipping).
2) Netflix's original content, while good, isn't worth the subscription cost just by itself.
3) For about the same cost, I could dump Netflix and pick up ad-free Hulu, which gives me access to a ton of old TV shows that were once on Netflix but aren't anymore.
The choice was then clear. Sorry Netflix, Stranger Things is a great series. But it ain't $10-a-month good.
An unexpected surplus of oxidation.

Jack Thompson and Joe Lieberman are mere amateur demagogues next to today's SJW's.
What are your bets guys?
I'm betting that Kurt Russell faked drinking from that bottle and it was actually a molotov cocktail.
Well, considering that Twitter has all but declared open war on Trump in particular and conservatism in general, I hardly think it's petty for Trump to tell them to go fuck themselves. Seems to indicate major incompetence.
Hush, you fool! If you imply that a female CEO is anything less than amazing you'll have the SJW's showing up to protest our misogyny!
OH GOD, IT'S TOO LATE! Here they come! HOW DID THEY MAKE THOSE SIGNS SO FAST?!?
There's a bunch of us in those (and other states) that don't buy into being extorted by corporations, the acceptance of hate crimes against minorities, the total destruction of our natural resources, and endless wars that accomplish nothing.

Are you also going to investigate all the "glaring discrepancies" in the DNC, that apparently deliberately sabotaged the Bernie Sanders campaign?
Democrats still can't accept that there are apparently a bunch of states located between California and New England where people don't buy into the idea that all white people are evil racists and that 3-year-olds should be able to create their own genders. Great Britain isn't in Europe?
LOL. Oh yeah, Brexit. Not anymore, huh?

I demand he be replaced with an immigrant, woman, or minority!
Now that vinyl has become mainstream again, cue the inevitable backlash from the hipsters.
I was into that band way before they became popular. That makes me better than you.

Just what are people with only high school supposed to do?
Be unemployed, getting angrier and angrier. And if history is any indication, that always ends well.
