I'll go ahead and blame politicians if you won't. Rather than setting an example and trying to calm people and show that they don't have to be afraid, they whip up the public into a fear frenzy with an all too helpful media and it just builds up and builds up into worse and worse responses.
They have been leaked. They have been reported on the news, morning, noon, evening, just before bed, and through the night into day into night on 24 hour news channels. It's in the newspapers and magazines. It's on the radio. It's on the internet, on news sites, on blogs, on news aggregate sites, in RSS feeds, in podcasts, on Youtube and other video clips. I don't think it's a secret any more.
Do we really want the kind of person who is bombarded with this, for lack of a better word, reality and pretend it never happened? How much of our current problems are caused by this exact, head-in-the-ground, response?
So your kid sees people constantly playing with something small in their hands and not running around outside playing. You might want to look into that.
It was sent to Iraq where it was kidnapped and held for ransom, suicide bombed, kidnapped and beheaded, looted, and 90% of the funds for it disappeared while in the hands of contractors.
What's wrong with regulations anyway? 'cause I really want lead paint on my cadmium drinking glasses and diethylene glycol in my toothpaste and melamine in my pet's food and my car to explode into a fireball if rear ended and my heating furnace to leak carbon monoxide and e. coli on my chicken and spinach and botulism in my can food and motor oil used in cosmetic surgery and shall I go on?
I couldn't tell you. I couldn't remember why I never check it out, only thinking I must've been playing WoW too much, so I downloaded the demo.
Oh, right, it's got SecuROM. The demo threw a hissyfit when I wouldn't let it connect online but I was already looking to uninstall it. Hopefully, it didn't fuck up my DVD burner.
The game was waaaay ahead of its time with a large variety of weapons, alternate ammo and power modes, gobs of explosives and grenades and landmines, upgrades for the player (jumpjet boots, powered skates, night/infrared vision, a camera for the back of your freaking head!), stat boosting drugs with side effects, objectives/tasks, cyberspace in that laughable 1990's 3d style... Oh, it's glorious. AND IT WAS RELEASED IN 1994!
Not threatening Facebook as a company but I'm sure there's some crazy ass fundy willing to publicly threaten Zuckerberg's life. Hell, they did that over a South Park episode and Comedy Central caved.
Probably. I still think that 22 Guitar Hero titles (not counting DJ Heros) over 5 years is clear exploitation. Rock Band did better but still has 3 main titles, a couple band-centric standalones, and a handful of spin-offs/ports.
All told, that's, what, some 30-32 music games from just two fucking companies over 5 years?
Which is exactly what happened with the federal income tax - originally it was just a 1% tax on the "evil rich" and then the government kept taking more and more money from more and more people. It's good to see that the people in Washington learned from history and didn't let the bill pass.
Well, duh. Look who we keep electing. Evil rich bastards and their lawyers....
Nah. It's just that whenever the government does something well at great expense researching, planning, developing, and executing, some business gits swing by to get in on the action.
In the state of Washington, liquor sales are through state owned or licensed stores. Not only does it work, it works pretty damn good to the tune of a couple hundred million dollars in profit that goes to the state and local governments. The stores themselves were rated among the highest in the nation in not selling alcohol to minors.
People were getting their booze. State was turning a profit. Ah, businesses feel left out. Costco was behind one initiative (favoring big retailers) and there's another as well (favoring big distributers).
Sigh... but that still won't stop people from screeching to the heavens about the gubmint stealin' thar medicare.

Yeah, but we're fucked if they figure out how to make more robots....
Maybe you're too stupid to realize what he said.

Really? Most people don't care to be tracked? I can't imagine why.
Bill Hicks said it best. "Quit putting a god damn dollar sign on every fucking thing on this planet!"

Are they doing it? Have they announced where the majority of the attacks are coming from or is like a /. effect?
(They can't lose! Either they're being attacked for revealing the truth and/or they're super popular!)
Try to be a kid again. Or are you saying you wouldn't play those games with your kids because you're an adult?

Raising taxes? Try again. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/02corate.pdf
Regulation? Ha. Regulatory agencies are so fucking stuffed with corporate cronies it's not even funny. You got oil exes in what formerly was known as MMS (Minerals Management Service) and Wall Street guys have been fucking tearing up regulations since the 1980s.

Unionization? What decade are you from?
Never mind. You're just trollin'.
Oooh goody! You wouldn't believe how many politicians we could ki- oh, right. These rules would only apply to the rest of us.
Future-proofing against clones.
All the more reason to limit the amount you pick up from the airport, aye?

Ah, nvm...
How disappointing.

I suppose I'll just have to keep hoping to interest in remaking the engine or remaking the game using the System Shock 2 engine rekindles.
At least Thief got a decent remake of sorts on Doom 3 engine. http://www.thedarkmod.com/
Ignorance is bliss. Give them the greatest gift of all: a TV and a basic cable subscription!

Says you.
I'll take the inanity of Facebook over censorship in the name of religion any day.

What happened is that they exploited that genre to exhaustion.

Thank you. It made for an interesting read. Nitric acid as a fuel component? What could go wrong..?
Wiki link if anyone else wants to read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nedelin_catastrophe
Do you have a link or anything names/places that are googleable? I'm curious about what you've described.
You say that adaptation on the genetic level isn't evolution?
