    Moral arguments don't play in. Capitalism is amoral by nature and the people involved are, for the most part, nothing more than components of the system.

    A corporation exists to make money, and it will do anything to achieve that goal unless someone or something forces restraint. The law won't. Do you think the Microsoft brass will?

    Yeah, that's pretty shitty, but I wouldn't say it's Microsoft's fault. If they want to do business in China they have to comply with Chinese law. Chinese law's kinda oppressive. News at 11.

I assume it isn't for the money since I would think that an unknown exploit technique would be immensly valuable in that regard. Is it for the sheer destruction of the thing without the fingerprints?

    In my experience you don't even need to do that much. They have a mini version that they hand out once in awhile, and if they don't actually get to hand it to you they jam one under one of your windshiled wipers.

    For the last time: if it will play in a CD player the disc has uncompressed, unencrypted PCM audio and a valid table of contents. What this means is that you can rip any CD, regardless of some cute new DRM technology, with maybe a few trivial modifications to the ripper software.

    And this somebody can go to hell. If we're gonna be a bunch of luddites in the US then technological innovation will lust continue elsewhere, probably with the involvement of all the American scientists who'll be frustrated or well-paid enough to move.

    And as far as the whole "Axis of Evil" thing, we have too much economic and military interest in South Korea to safely piss them off.
