I'd be pretty pissed if I found my tax money was going on projects that had ballooned in cost and massively shrunk in features to support a fraction of a percent of the population that had other valid alternatives but were simply too bloody minded to move from something they felt "should" be supported. Honestly, this is happening all around.
Here's the thing - workers get paid to sit and do menial tasks. Students don't. Why should we have to sit there and be bored for 7-8 hours a day for no money?
Do you want to know why kids are dropping out? It's because they realize that school isn't about learning - it's about teaching to a test that's taken state-wide. These sorts of tests encourage teaching certain areas very hard, while completely neglecting other areas. Just because it isn't on your state assessments doesn't mean it isn't important. Really, these tests don't test the ability to think spatially, don't test anything above the most meager and basic algebra, and they sure as hell don't measure a student's ability to think for themself. It's ignorant to think that, by teaching to a very narrow test, we are preparing students for the real world.
Well, yeah. But was Bush under oath when he took the oath of office?
I assume that chirping, crickety sound is you realizing that Bush has never lied under oath.
Ladies and gentlemen, the defense rests.
when you take the OATH of office, of course you're under OATH.
told this to my parents, went to get dinner, come out, and my dad says "You know, they only portray the T-rex as mean and vicious. They liked kleenex as much as anyone else."
Teachers that actually give a shit are always better. Teachers that students can actually identify with do better. For example, my drafting (er... pre-engineering) teacher actually helps us out, but lets us be as long as we're working. We can go at our own pace. We learn a lot better, and those of us who actually get it quickly aren't bored out of our minds, sitting there, getting pissed of because we aren't being pushed enough.
My english and history teachers are great, too. They actually care that I want to learn stuff, even though I'm stuck in a class full of fuck-ups.
We all know that this is just a ploy so they can spy on you... "Please, think of the children!" seems to be the most abused reasoning for spying... it's just bs that anyone would buy this. Maybe if they told isp's to record anything that looked like anything related to kiddy porn it would be ok, but this is absolute bullshit.
I can't remember who makes it, but the Zaurus line seems to be pretty cool. I know several people who have one, and they LOVE them.
Also, you can get linux to run on a PalmOne device. Granted, it'll wipe the os... but... hey, if you wanna, go ahead.
These people have never heard of viruses that can look like something else, seem useful, et cetera. And it's not that hard to make a virus that says "You're a windows mobile device, i'll download THAT code"
I was thinking the exact same thing. But I think that, if done correctly, this could really solidify both AMD and ATI as market leaders.
If AMD pressures their new acquisition to create a half-decent set of Linux drivers, then this will all be worth the hassle. Or even if they convince ATI to open up the specs, that would be ok too.
You're forgetting two very important things - first, a good bit of software will run under WINE. Second, as more people move away from MS, so will the companies - they'll begin coding for Linux, which will, with the low (non-existent) cost of most Linux development tools and toolkits, reduce the cost of production.

No, that would be the president...

So prohibition should be in effect because the amendment was repealed by a NEWER amendment?

Only 3 words come to mind from this:
Complete, utter, and bullshit
And we all know that Microsoft has never ever screwed people over.

Starship fuel! And... if dark matter exists... then something must exist to have created the dark matter... Onward, to Vergon 6!
er... don't you know about the JustinBailey code? You get to see Samus in a bikini, even if it IS 8-bit

I've used this before - the great thing is, it works in ANY environment ^-^ But it's wonderful!!

I'm guessing that this certification is necessary if you want your product to be used in the federal government, right???
How, exactly, does this matter? I mean, it's a suggestion... and it's all about power these days
