I'm a firm believer in the theory that teaching a kid "Well, that's what the real world is like," too early will end up essentially keeping the same system in place. Rather than say "Go with the flow, that's the way things are," I think we should be saying "If you don't like the way something is, then change it!" Schools place too much emphasis on obedience, without teaching kids anything about thinking for themselves.
The problem is, it's becoming more and more evident that kids won't learn in a classroom, either. I don't see how someone can claim that a charter school won't teach skills necessary to succeed in society when the brick-and-mortar schools don't teach these skills either.
I have several ideas for this, but none are cheap or easy
For one, you could try getting a touchscreen.
You could build a remote-tracking device, and teach her to point with the remote (similar to the Wii >.>)
Have you looked into modifying something like a wacom tablet? I don't think it would be that hard to put the guts of the stylus into the finger of a glove or something...
Did you ever notice that the Christian extremist nutjobs, who are constantly talking about how video games are 'training kids to kill' and 'making a new generation of serial killers', are the exact same ones who think being in the military is the best thing any person, regardless of potential, can do?
I really hate to feed the trolls, but this is an absolutely asinine comment. I just watched the video and the sound worked FINE... Linux is now to the point that it can do anything (media-wise) that Windows can.
No, we actually learned about this in Organic Chemistry.
When you drink methanol, they give you ethanol, not because it dilutes it any, but because, by saturating the enzymes that break down alcohol, there's no chance for the methanol to break into its poisonous parts.../
To my understanding, I believe that the Hot Coffee 'mod' wasn't supposed to see the light of day... in fact, if I remember correctly, it required some ability to edit save files... which is hard as hell, if you've never tried. Anyway, I think what happened was that R* originally put it in, but thought, "Hm, this a bit too much," so, they rewrote a bit of code, the whole thing's still there, but it's not readily accessible. In other words, in my opinion, they were doing the right (albeit lazy) thing by at the very least blocking it in some way.
The phone program is EVIL!! Whenever you press the buttons on the phone, it makes this beeping noise. Then, when you hit the right button, it makes the noise again and it COSTS YOU MONEY...
That's why I'm planning to leave as soon as I can...
America is going to die if something isn't done to stop the spread of pessimism and apathy in the united states.
People need to start standing up for their RIGHTS again, not just saying "WEll, I'm not doing anything wrong, what do i have to worry about?"

er... the STUDENTS agree to go to school? Ever hear of a little thing called compulsory attendance? It's more like the law agrees FOR them

Instead of cell phones and laptops... couldn't that money be put towards better things, like... I dunno... food
that's because macs looks better than most computers...
If their operating system is soooo great for servers, routers, etc, why don't they use it in their own business?
Just so you realize, those viewers ONLY run in windows.
and if this had been done on windows systems, it would have made national news...
I'm wondering... Will they make it so that ANY of this runs on Linux? If not, why should I care?

The alcoholic component of booze is ETHANOL, (aka ethyl alcohol). This is not a booze cloud; an alcohol cloud, maybe... but not a booze cloud.

Exactly right... I'm seventeen, and even most of the 'intellectuals' (the kids in AP classes, advanced chem, AP physica, etc
what is your platform?
Ew. No. Best buy = BAD. Geek Squad = BAD. Have you heard the horror stories?
I don't think it's up to the gov't to decide who gets to play what... that's the job of the parents.
Didn't they know that it's been proven that tinfoil hats simply don't work?

DIdn't you know that electronic motion sensors capable of estimating speed, direction, etc, are in production?

What the hell's that MEAN anyway???
I think a mix between streaming video and torrents would work pretty well for this.
