Give the little girl the best tool for the job, if that happens to be made by Apple, cest la vi.
I personally think my linux boxes are more secure but would probably not suit his little girl. I know my daughter is constantly complaining, but then again, she is using my box, not one made for her. I answer her complaints with "Go play on your gamecube or learn the system." She goes to the cube only 40% of the time. She's pretty savvy for an eight yr. old.
How many times a day must i tell slashdot that I'm NOT A FUCKING SCRIPT!!!!???!!!?!? As many time as you post in a FUCKING day.Punctuation is obviously not your strong suit. You are not alone buddy. I tend to use humor to express my dissatisfaction but to each his/her own explicative.

Ah Yes,

One of the first colour portable consoles to be made. The Game Gear was basically a miniturized Master System with the addition of a larger colour palette, therefore Master System games could be played on it. There was also an additional accessory which was a TV Tuner.
The Gameboy Color (released 1998, the PS2 was 2000) first did that, by being able to play regular Gameboy games. True, it wasn't exactly a giant leap, but it was still backwards compatible.
Started 4 years later by Nintendo, You work at the PAtent office, don't you?

I am a script. But I can read & type.
Media is just a delivery mechanism. Processor, Graphics, and Sound were what I was talking about.
The same files can be placed on any media. Although, Point taken about carts.
Not a Sim fan but this may win me over, I love evolution games as an idea, but they still feel cookie cutter. & they would have to. Spore's system seems to break that. I welcome his ideas of genre hopping and asynchonous content sharing.
I knew the demoscene was gonna get its props some day, I just didn't think it would come from the Sim master. Kudos Will, You can count my money now.
I don't get the comparison you're drawing here. The cube is neither backward compatible (unless you count the gamecube adapter), has a DVD player, nor a hard drive.
Think a little deeper. The cube and the n64 were answers to sony. Nintendo has a long history of Using technology far past its natural life. Progress moves slow at Nintendo Hardware. NES, GB, GBA (Hey look a new gameboy., nah its just smaller/different color/shape). No way the Revolution would be in its current state without Sony pushing them. E3 presentation said as much and it was pretty much true. Without them we'd be lucky if we were stil in the 16bit era. Instead, the Revolution, Which I saw ON TV, while not as beefy, is quite a leap in hardware and features. http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=5aa8 631e-d4a0-45d9-a88c-e5931b807091
Hence: No offense intended, I love my cube but no way it would be even close to its current state without SONY, let alone its new sibling. Microsoft clearly has infuence inasmuch as Sony did then.
I knew I should have Studied:
You failed to confirm you are a human. Please double-check the 7-letter image and make sure you typed in what it says.
Does any one here think we would be talking backwards compatability, DVD, HD on all consoles if Sony hadn't said it all first? Its like all of us have amnesia & can't remember what games & controllers were like before the PSX.
No offense intended, I love my cube but no way it would be even close to its current state without SONY, let alone its new sibling. Microsoft clearly has infuence inasmuch as Sony did then.
Its a little strange to hear this from a community who spends a considerable amount of thier life & resources to use devices intended to play games for other purposes, or more often devices whose purpose has nothing to do with games playing othello. I applaud them for touting its multientertaining(TM) features. Saves us some of the effort.
Yeah DRM is evil at least its not as droconian a WarnerBrothers box (TWC) and a Microsoft box (XBOX) and a SONY box (PS3), hey, wait a minute
Those multinational conglomerate bastards! I miss my SEGA and ATARI boxes! I was trying to say at least the PS3 will show a Disney movie. But I probably shouldn't say it too loud.
All of my boxes "CAN" run WinXP and as good as it gets, In my opinion thats just not very Good. Most times, I'm not playing games.
"Stop complaining, sell off one or two of the older pc's (if anyone will buy them)"
I'm not quite a zealot but I have to have a damn good reason to drag me to admin & use a windows system. Lego isn't one, StarWars isn't either.
Strangely enough one of my arguments for switching one of my boys to linux is the playablility of Jedi Academy & JK2 & KOTOR not to metion UT2004 HL HL2 StarTrek Elite Forces Anarchy Online etc in Cedega.
The other kid is stubborn & his game library is huge, won't switch until he can bring all of them. Now he has 1 game he can't play. Join the club pal.
"As much as you can blame Lucas for most things wrong in society, I think the blame here lies with you."
The only thing I "blame" (read:Admire) Lucas for is the production and empire-building through marketing that has become known as Star Wars, oh yeah, and I enjoyed most of it, even making fun of the "bad stuff". The Games alone are worth 20 episode IIs AOTC-Clones./shudder
I just thought it interesting to note. The demo is supposed to work in win98, if you look at most online retailers its listed to be for 98, ME, 2000 and XP, only after purchase and install and searching for the error did I find that page that says its written on the box 2000 & XP only. Why would the installer allow it? Why would the demo work? I've run into this myself. Works great in XP but buggy in 98. Screw 98, Ship it XP only. Actually had to ship 2 different binaries.
I think the announcement of Backwards Compatability by the big three is the best news since 2 btn controllers. Nintendo's back catalog is unbeatable.
Hmm.. What about SEGA? They get to make their old-school retro ports for all three consoles. Not a bad deal.

The Game Gear had a bright back light so it can easily be played in the dark. It is possible to show 32 colours on the screen at once, and had many games to help popularity. It was superior to the Nintendo Game Boy but it was firmly fixed in the console market.
2x160 more Pixels and a backlight.24k vs 8k, BUT 32 COLORS vs 2 thats the dealmaker.
You mean battery-efficient Game Boy with a comparatively versatile sound chip vs. battery-hogging Sega Game Gear with a simplistic sound chip.
I would trade the Sound from Tetris for Sonic any day of the week. Maybe it was better chip I never heard it and thought wow listen to the fidelity coming from that shitty looking portable.
Rechargables Rule, most of the time mine was plugged in the wall.
I had a number of handhelds as a child before the GB. Single game handhelds were all mono.My favorite was called epoch man. Ran for months on watch batteries. Still sucked though, just sucked for a long time on same batteries.
Press conference no details.

Yawn MONO GameBoy vs Sega GameGear
NES vs Genesis
SNES vs 32x ? CD? oh yeah 3d0 & Jaguar
n64 vs Saturn or Dreamcast or PS1
Cube vs PS2 or Xbox
Backwards Compatable.
Ok so the n64 wasn't but GB(A) always has been since SNES.The great thing about this (for N) now, all the way back to MONO tetris, nintendo has no abandonware. The whole catalog is potentially profitable, thus giving them a new weapon in their never ending battle to stop N games from being run on non-N hardware. Those patch-wearing, peg-legged, parrot-perchin, pirate bastards must be stopped.
Here is the real surprise PRICE. No Way M$ or $ony can afford to undercut these units. Same as the portable wars. GBA, SP, DS != PSP (Graphic Quality, Function, Design) But just like those old MONO GBs they are still flying off the shelves. So will this thing. My household is begging for a PS3 but we all know we'll have a Revolution first, right beside our PS2, 3 PCs, Gamecube (maybe sell the GC or Linux it http://www.gc-linux.org/
