Most likely it does, but VMWare doesn't support the game port. At least, I haven't been able to get it to find the gameport. Any help gratefully accepted.
this Bill is a simple one, and yet, it has the potential to do great things for our state. It requires procurement people in public authorities to consider the alternative of using open source software, and wherever practicable, using open source in preference to proprietary software.
It says that if OSS is not practicable for whatever reason, don't use it. But it must be given a fair go.
Nothing wrong with that. Not prejudiced to either side (open or closed) in my view.
... the Initiative for Software Choice is lobbying to basically remove South Australia's choice to use Open Source Software from consideration and more or less force them into using closed source software.
You are understanding this right, and yes, well, when the ISC promote 'choice', they mean that you are supposed to choose THEM.
You are absolutely right about misleading names - but that's the way that PR works. The AMA wouldn't have nearly the same amount of public respect if it was called the 'Association That Looks Out For Doctors Interests', yet that is exactly what they are there for.
Technically it's possible - take a look at the Robocop collectors/extended edition. When I went to, ummm, "back it up" with DVDx I found that the first six chapters were the extended edition 'replacements' for other original chapters in the movie. So when watching the movie the player started at chapter 7, played a bit, jumped back to chapter 1, played two chapters, then back to chapter 10 or 11 or something to continue. If you started the movie at chapter seven and let it run you got the original version.
I've explained this poorly - rent the DVD and take a look at it.
Practically it's not possible with TTT, as other posters replying to your comment have explained.
My ISP doesn't charge for excess data, but they 'shape' your traffic. Once you go over the limit (varies by account, 2GB peak + 2GB off peak for my 256/64) they cut your download speed down to about 72Kbps. Better than dialup, but slower than normal. And still free of charge.
The good thing though is that traffic from sources within their own network (nntp, their ftp mirrors, games servers, etc) and from ISPs that are connected with a peering agreement (they agree to carry each others traffic free of charge) is always at full speed, and doesn't count towards that quota.

Chicken Run

· Score: 1
I saw a story somewhere about this - the chickens were not supposed to be frozen though, but someone made the mistake of using frozen chickens and blasted a hole through the cockpit glass. I'm guessing that very few birds that a plane would be likely to collide with would be frozen.
First, look away from the screen at a far away object for 30 seconds or more at least every 10-15 minutes. There are programs which cover the screen and force you to do so for periods of time
This is good advice. I recommend looking at something far away, then close, then far away, then close, then far away. I find that just a few seconds at each range is enough for me, but you can increase the number of reps to suit yourself. The changing of focus far-short-far-short gives the eyes a good workout. Do this every 10-15 mins or so as stienman says.
What is this "Untrasonic" technology you speak of? Some kind of super-sonic, but not quite super-sonic frequency perhaps?
Well, 'un' usually implies 'not'. So it could be sub-sonic (opposite of super-sonic), but I'm pretty much inclined to believe that it is 180 degree phase-shifted 'trasonic' frequencies. Very rare, which is why they are so expensive. Insects are generally afraid of them because they don't occur naturally.
Yes, they managed to get all of about 26 page views of that 'paid advertisement'. That's about the number of people who actually go and read the article, right?
A valid point, although you can always find contract programmers to do the programming work for you. The fact that you have the source, and can do whatever you like with it, is the important bit. Whether you have people in-house to do it or not is irrelevant.
I have a Sony TRV-89E (I think that's the model no), a Hi-8 (analogue) video camera which will shoot 16:9. I bought this camera about 5 years ago. I'm sure that more recent cameras must be able to do it also.
I've never tried shooting anything in that mode, because turning it on disables the fuzzy-logic wobble-correction function. But it's there.
I wish underqualified people wouldn't apply for jobs they can't do. This screws everyone else, because they get them sometimes.
You've never worked for a consulting company. The original poster may have never applied for the job himself. He was 'asked to assist'.
I was often bid by my company for contracts in environments in which I had little or no experience. Usually the client knew this, and didn't care because you were (a) on a very low rate and (b) contributing other skills as well. Generally this situation applied to employees who were recent graduates and new to the workforce.
On the whole it worked well enough, except those times the marketing people put you in somewhere having described you as having 'guru' level status for some technology that you saw at a demo once. Bastards.
Now, a very technical linguist might argue ...
The expression you are looking for is 'cunning linguist'.

Ooooh. What kind of pies?

I heard SCO is adding an "M" their name to make it SCOM. This will make it more closely resemble SCUM
Conveniently, it also closely resembles "SCAM".
I've also heard a VC referred to as a 'Vulture Capitalist'.

Also it's "i" before "e" except after "c".
Except as in science.
And yes, the theme wasn't subtle, it was the whole premise.

Damn. Where is the '-1:Boring' moderation when you need it!!!!
...and sometimes you'll need to pass a drug test
Oh no! I don't want to have to start taking drugs to get a game tester job! Guess I'll have to pick something else.
Let's all hope for minimal casualties...
on both sides.

...is some idiot to try to run Windows apps inside WINE running in Bochs under VMWare.
And don't tell me you didn't all think the same thing as soon as you found out what Bochs was.
There is also of course the Unix 'write', and later 'talk'.
write of course didn't have the char-by-char display that TERM-talk and PHONE had, but neither do today's IM systems.
Buddy list? who, or even who | grep friendsloginname if there were lots of people online.
I've had mine for over 6 years, and not had a single problem with it - unless you count buying a replacement battery. It's still working fine.
:-)
i've never heard of a panasonic cordless phone lasting longer than more than two years
Now you have
Did anyone else get the 'Visual Studio .NET' advertisement with this story? A stroke of marketing genius to get the timing right on that one.
