You missed the point of TFA. Even music and movies create new scarcities which can be monetized, even if the original work itself cannot be. Here is an article with a clip that explains it much better than I can.
Except that the older generation is managing to codify many of their ideals in Federal and International law. We really don't have time to wait for them to die off.
Unfortunately playing wow effects everyone the person knows. It affects the families of wow players as they resort to lying, stealing, and other means of getting money so they can continue to play wow. It interferes with work.
Yes, there are those who aren't compulsive wow players and can put it aside any time they want. But for those who can't, this is a bad thing.
So where is the legislation outlawing World of Warcraft?
Considering the main point of the no-fly list is to prevent suicide bombings, combined with the fact that it's hard to arrest a corpse, I think the preventative method is a better choice.
Except for the fact that the percentage of suicide bombers vs the number of passenger miles flown is so ridiculously small it shouldn't warrant such a heavy handed response. Even if we removed all the security from airports there probably wouldn't be that many more incidents if any. Also within minutes of the 9/11 attacks when people realized that hi-jackers weren't taking planes for joy rides to Cuba anymore; the passengers of planes started to keep an eye out for suspicious behavior and started reacting to threats. Starting with Flight 93 planes have already secured themselves; had the Flight 93 passengers realized sooner what the cooks with box cutters were doing they may have even been able to safely land their plane.
Another reason the courts need to side against the prosecutors in that case is because it opens the door for vigilantism. If the courts do not seem just then people take justice into their own hands.
Yes, the remote is quite the conundrum. It is in the center console with the unit. It sure would be nice if the unit had controls built on to it, or if the remote was an RF remote instead of an IR. It is a pain right now because both the built in unit and the WD TV require their remotes, neither of them work without the remote (which to me is a serious design flaw).
The Toyota Sequoia has an AC outlet in the center console, that is what I plug into. You could use an inverter or you could buy a generic universal adapter and connect it at the correct voltage.
I have used Freecycle as well as well as donated to local donation centers. The stuff I took to Best Buy was non functional. I still have 3 working computers that have an old version of Fedora on them. I may put those up on Freecycle as well.
I just try not to put anything in a Landfill; that is a last resort.
Yeah, plug the WD TV into a cig lighter socket. The WD TV powers the USB drive. Also my Samsung LED TV also uses the USB drives to watch movies directly on the TV.
NO! I can't throw away my old Token Ring cards and cables! What happens when the world goes post apocalyptic and I have to connect to a legacy system to save the world from Skynet? I need all my old devices it is our only hope!
You can take your old computers to Best Buy and they will recycle them for you. No need to put them in a landfill. That is where I take all my old tech.
Also note that if it has a screen they will charge you $10 to recycle it; however they give you a $10 gift card to use in the store as well - so it is a wash.
I bought a WD TV mini and burned my movie collection onto a 500GB USB drive. I didn't rip out the old DVD player I just connected the WD TV to the existing AV ports. We still use the DVD player for movies we haven't converted yet, but have access to the rest of our movie catalog while in the car. The best part is that the DVD's aren't constantly getting scratched up by the kids. Oh and it frees up a lot of space in the glove box where we had a case of DVD's now there is just a USB drive and the very very small WD TV box.
I guess we can't have a completely free internet (Google self censors); however Google does work to have a mostly free internet except for where the majority of the worlds population would agree with them. If you are in a minority that believes Child Porn is OK and Hate speech is OK then you're out of luck. Other than that Google does seem to push back against the authority. I just hope they don't start self censoring morally ambiguous activities like sex and drugs.
The FAQ is interesting. The majority of requests are DMCA take down requests by private entities; which is not tracked by this tool.
This is only because of regulation. The reason I can't build a fiber ring in my small town and offer gigabit speeds is because of FCC Regulation. Regulation creates the monopoly you describe. Also monopolies aren't necessarily bad. If the monopoly causes the prices to remain low (think Wal-mart) then the consumer benefits.

I agree too, I would rather pay for freedom than either not have it or have to fight for it.
Nope, just the genocidal hell-hole. Remember Uganda is the country that has the death penalty for homosexuals.
Apparently Carl Sagan gave 'the rest of human society' too much credit too...

I don't think this is on my keyboard.

Seeing as you are posting on /. should you be burned at the do-you-damn-job-instead-of-goofing-off stake?
Guilty as charged....

Because of this I've put an in dash camera in my own car.

Beware the bugs!

Would have been funnier if they put him in the Pedobear suit.
And still does in some Protestant Churches...

Good point, but it isn't going to do much good if nobody can find it.
