  1. One lesson from the article... on Marriott IT Exec Shares Network Horror Story · · Score: 4, Insightful

There needs to be better coordination between marketing and IT. IT had no idea marketing was running commercials showing customers using all this high-bandwidth stuff so there's no way IT could be prepared for it. Imagine 160 customers just trying to view websites on one DSL line! I admire this guy for his honesty if nothing else. He'll probably catch hell for it from his superiors!

I also get a new laptop every year when hers gets so clogged with malware that she demands a new one. My only consolation is we're both adopted so I'm not really related to her!

I noticed a drastic change in the way accesskey works in Fx 2.0.

Prior to 2.0 if I assigned accesskey="1" to a link, simply pressing Alt+1 in Windows worked the same as clicking on the link. In order to get accesskey to work in 2.0 I need to press Alt+Shift+1.

Why was this change incorporated into 2.0? It makes accesskey virtually useless, just like it's always been in IE where Alt+1 simply gives focus to the link but doesn't actually simulate clicking on it, which means you have to click on it anyway; or at least press Enter.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.

Most condos have a clause in the declaration of condominium that grants the unit owner the "right to peaceful possession."

Here's a practical application of that right. My next door neighbor used to have her band come over almost every weekday evening to practice. It annoyed the heck out of neighbors for several units above, below and on either side of her. Talking to the owner resulted in her quoting the county noise ordinances which were not relevant as the property deed restrictions superseded the county rules. Eventually several of the neighbors brought a civil suit against her and we won.

Their door cards contain three sets of apparently random numbers.

Two of those three numbers show up on my invoice. One is the account number for the current visit, and the other indicates the TTL for the card.

I assume the third number matches the code in the door the card is assigned to.

Despite how innocuous the information is I prefer to keep the cards because they come in handy as a resin spreader for a hobby of mine.

Not really, because many of these suits are brought by activists who can't solve their perceived problems legislatively.
