I've recently been trying to implement streaming video in a cross-platform system, and the main open-source libraries, ffmpeg and Live555... well, Live555 at least has unstable release packages.
That's the best I can say about their project management.:/
Damn lies aside, their website needs graphs, averages and stuff. It's not very useful when you have to browse through hundreds of individual benchmarks.
The PirateBay admins themselves have been looking into ways to replace the Bay. This looks like a good alternative.
However, due to the popularity of closed-source BitTorrent clients (uTorrent et. al), we'll need a stand-alone version of this Cubit.
Seconded, thoroughly - in addition I would like some decent gui tools for single-user data-storage requirements; it's annoying that any pc user who wants to maintain a list of (contacts/friends/must-see-movies/must-read-books/etc) puts everything into a spreadsheet. I like Notepad with a fixed font.
From TFA:
"We can read fingerprints from about five meters.... all 10 prints," said Bruce Walker, vice president of homeland security at Northrop Grumman Corp. "We can also do an iris scan at the same distance." Might be inflated, but still!
The last part of the underground sequence in the Russian first-person action RPG was pretty scary, in a good way.:) The game really feels like a second life; the atmosphere is very good.
Write add-ons for the major free browsers (Mozilla, Webkit, ...) that implement the Stallman's solution.

So, let's build a list of alternatives.
As far as I can see from TFA, no proof except the MAFIA's say-so will be required to disconnect people. Seems no courts of law are involved at all.
Which is why I run BIND myself.
So now we're actually gonna see storage capacity measured in "gigaquads"?
Let's have a link to TPB description/comments page.
Nice Megatokyo reference in the "dept" line.
This isn't terribly novel; the Swedish Pirate Party suggested the same thing almost two years ago.
Maybe he's referring to the Yes song that's played during the credits.
Seems to me that one could take an AGPL program, relicense it under GPLv3, then use it as a service without having to provide the source code.
If you want it to be possessive, it's just "I-T-S." But, if it's supposed to be a contraction then it's "I-T-apostrophe-S..." scalawag.
I managed to get in by using PrefBar to disable JavaScript.

Seriously, if even Slashdot can't use the word properly, how can we ever expect the MAFIAA to learn?
Looks like it got slashdotted. Fortunately, google cache still has a copy.
