The Steve Ballmer Institute: No one knows what condition afflicts steve ballmer. Hes a man once known to hurl furniture in fits of paranoid delusion, only to emerge days later caked in sweat and howling a chant of 'developers' over and over, in a schitzophrenic episode. The Ballmer institute seeks to heal by studying and, in time, formulating a treatment for this rare and profoundly sad disease.

It's a nice idea, but their suggested treatment is just repeating the word "doctors" ad nauseum.

Or stop using Windows. That seems to help calm my desire to hurl furniture a LOT.

Supersonic Jet Could Fly NYC To London In 3 Hours

    Not only could, but did.

2 hours, 52 minutes, 59 seconds, to be precise.

Alternatively, the SR-71 Blackbird did it in 1 hour 54 minutes and 56.4 seconds in 1971 - apparently still the fastest record:

The SR-71 also holds the "Speed Over a Recognized Course" record for flying from New York to London—distance 3,461.53 miles (5,570.79 km), 1,806.964 miles per hour (2,908.027 km/h), and an elapsed time of 1 hour 54 minutes and 56.4 seconds—set on 1 September 1974 while flown by U.S. Air Force Pilot Maj. James V. Sullivan and Maj. Noel F. Widdifield, reconnaissance systems officer (RSO). This equates to an average velocity of about Mach 2.72, including deceleration for in-flight refueling. Peak speeds during this flight were likely closer to the declassified top speed of Mach 3.2+. For comparison, the best commercial Concorde flight time was 2 hours 52 minutes and the Boeing 747 averages 6 hours 15 minutes.

    That plane was fucking awesome.

The Ford bulletin listed in TFS says: "This is a compliance issue with FMVSS 114 regarding theft protection and rollaway prevention." One would think the issue would simply be shutting off the engine when turned off so, you know, it doesn't keep running. I understand that software controls allow for more features and save the vendor money on hardware, but I don't think they actually makes things simpler, better, safer or more reliable. I know that, historically, whenever I have turned the engine off in my cars, the engine has always turned the fuck off.
