    If Emacs is more capable than vi(m), why did they need to write a vi emulation plugin for it?

    You being serious or funny? If serious, Emacs can easily emulate several different editors, so users of those editors can transition to Emacs faster. And they're "modes" (written in LISP) not plugins. It's arguable that Emacs is probably the most powerful editor on the planet, but not for the faint of heart.

    Now let's figure out what we'd like to cut from Government. Defense? That's part of the constitutionally limited responsibilities (CLR). That's roughly half of discretionary spending (about $600 billion).

    Of course, not all of that is for proper "Defense". Do we actually need aircraft carriers to defend the US? No, we need them to protect our foreign interests and commitments. I imagine the Defense Budget could be trimmed quite a bit if we limited it to actual Defense.

    Everywhere that has socialized medicine has to deal with health care rationing.

    All health care is rationed as it's not an infinite resource. It's just that in non-socialized settings, those with more money/ power/ influence get to go the head of the line regardless of actual need or urgency. People don't like waiting in line and many only care about "fair" when it affects them.

    They wouldn't be, obviously. Robots don't have to obey the three laws unless we build them that way.

    After a bomb exploded in Manhattan, leaving 29 injured, people leaving the scene discovered Uber had doubled their fares.

    People called an Uber driver *into* a disaster area and/or potential terror/war zone for a ride home and are pissed that the rates went up? Hazard pay people. And private companies w/o public supervision can do whatever they want. If you don't like it, take a taxi or the subway, or fucking walk. First-world problems for sure.

    Vim != Vi

    Pedantic? Yes, but there is a difference. Vim is a lot more capable (though I'm still primarily an (X)Emacs user, which is even more capable.)

    Working mostly in a Windows environment for the past 25 years I never got into emacs.

    Emacs and XEmacs are available for Windows and have been for a while (though not 25 years).

    Having a barometer built into a phone is more useful than you would think, especially when measuring elevation changes.

    If a "barometer" measured the quality of the bars in which I was drinking, then I would agree, but I don't think it does.

    If the pictures were of her being naked it would be considered porn and her parents would have had to remove the photos and probably be facing criminal charges.

    Simple (or non-sexualized) nudity -- even of minors -- is usually not considered porn or illegal. Haven't seen the photos in question, but context is important.

    I never use IE to surf the open web and I imagine the same would be true for Edge (if I ever had to use Windows 10). I only use IE at work for internal sites that require it. Faster isn't better if you're just getting f*cked in the ass -- okay, isn't *always* better.

    My Kyocera Hydro VIBE (released in 2014) is certified water-proof to 3m for 30min, has an exposed headphone jack, user-removable battery, SIM and SD card (back cover has a gasket) as well as wireless charging, bluetooth, etc...

    So that all isn't hard to achieve, just takes a little courage. :-)
