The second amendment is supposed to help "correct" democracy if it no longer becomes representative, and also help uphold the constitution. And that is one of the problems we are facing. Our elected politicians are no longer concerned with representing their constituents. They are doing the bidding of special interest groups.
Elections have become nothing more than pageants. Where did this term "unelectable" come from? The media decides to not cover a candidate because they are considered "unelectable?"
There is a problem. People just don't care enough to do the research to find a solution.
People don't just need to hear these things, but do something about them. I feel the biggest problem is that people are not doing anything but complaining on internet forums thinking that they are doing something.
There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. Please use in that order.
Ed Howdershelt If the internet is our soap box, then it is time to move on to the ballot box. And voting for either of the three people that are being pushed on us by the media will not change anything.
Convince friends/family/strangers to do a little research on how many candidates are out there, and what their positions are, and write in someone's name if they have to, as long as they don't vote for the same crap that we've had for too long now.
No alien civilization is expending the mammoth amount of resources needed to traverse the vast distances of interstellar space just to stick a probe up your ass. Deal with it.
Maybe these aliens are cheating on their spouses and due to the technology available to their wives, they have to go farther than into another area code.
Men will do amazing things for sex. Maybe alien men will too.
I'm with you... I haven't seen any of his movies either... but then again, he has yet to make a movie based on "The Legend of Zelda," "Super Mario Bros.," or "Tetris" - at least not that I know of.
A Zelda movie... now that would get me to go back to the theater instead of waiting for DVD releases!

Funny thing happened on the way to an update this week... from Do Not Reply by Chet
I have been without access to my email account since posting scary week.
Donotreply.com email is now run through google apps. I was about to praise them for providing a great service that had zero down time and was actually able to handle the high volume of email this site generates (think hundreds of thousands to a million a day just to this account). But guess I can't at the moment.
The week after scary week, I started getting this error when trying to access my account - "Sorry... account maintenance underway". It suggested I email support if it lasted more than 24 hours. It did, so I did. Their response
Hello,
Your Gmail account is currently under maintenance, and our engineers are
working to allow access to your account as quickly as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank you for
your patience during our limited test of Gmail.
Sincerely,
The Google Team
That was 2 days ago (i waited a week after getting the first error). The account remains inaccessible. Wonder who on the list is mad?
On a happier note, another animal shelter received a check for $200 this week. Thanks.
Chet ps. If you need to contact me to threaten me, get my mailing address so you can send me a scary threatening email, or even so you can show up in person, or just my phone number so we can shoot the breeze as you try and threaten me in a friendly manner, email me at chet at poe-news dot com
I bet he's at the Guantanamo Bay Resort and Re-education facility now...
Australia is still under the sovereignty of the Queen, so what is the problem?
chief of state: Queen of Australia ELIZABETH II (since 6 February 1952) represented by Governor General Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Michael JEFFERY (since 11 August 2003)
head of government: Prime Minister Kevin RUDD (since 3 December 2007) Deputy Prime Minister Julia GILLARD (since 3 December 2007)
cabinet: prime minister nominates, from among members of Parliament, candidates who are subsequently sworn in by the governor general to serve as government ministers
elections: none; the monarch is hereditary; governor general appointed by the monarch on the recommendation of the prime minister; following legislative elections, the leader of the majority party or leader of a majority coalition is sworn in as prime minister by the governor general
To facilitate the discussions we should be having here on/. it should be "+1: Disagree" so that we can respectfully disagree with each other and elevate the discussion so that more people can weigh in on the topic.
But I agree that a post in response would better serve the discussion.
...once this has passed, I hope that someone (with a quickness) is able to exploit the system, record the personal calls of the legislators who passed the bill, and subsequently post them on the internet.

That may be better than what I did...
I put grub on a boot floppy and let the box normally boot into Windows. If I want Linux, I boot from the floppy and use grub to select it.

An attractive, young, blonde white woman...
Yeah!
Some of us are from trailer parks!
At sea you typically wear dungarees or coveralls, and therefore no rating insignia.
That is unless you were on the Admiral's staff (double entendre intended).

But the only mysteries he solves are those that save people's lives.
I would disagree. I call House CG.
While he may not follow the rules, he is doing it to save the lives of other people.
Maybe his parents were really mean and I. P. stood for Insert Penis.
He did just that... see my other comment: http://it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=495758&cid=22826932

Not only that, but did you see that it wasn't even submitted by a registered user??

Damn... that's gotta sting.

Screw it, I got karma to burn...
Get a four year degree in anything, and you are a shoe in for becoming an officer (I served under a weapons officer who had a degree in English).
Sure you will start as a junior grade officer, but you will be compensated (pay and benefits) vastly better than the average enlisted person.
It never surprised me that Mustangs (officers who were former enlisted) were always better leaders, while the rest were just managers.
An I the only one who thought of this when I read the title:
