Be careful what you wish for. I smell a "Gaming Edition" that will cost the same as ultimate but instead of all the lovely networking features, you get DX11 =\.
We had a system implemented last quarter just like that at Cal Poly SLO. It's an opt-in system. I'm not sure how many people have signed up yet, I haven't. The central area of campus is quite small and a disturbance would be easy to hear and smoke easy to see. Not to mention my engineering building doesn't get cell service inside the rooms so I wouldn't really get it in time to be useful.
You are generalizing statistics that apply only for the current state of life. It is true that today most children born out of wedlock are STATISTICALLY in a poorer (at least monetarily) situation. However, that is changing. Divorce rates are way up and many couples manage to raise a child properly without being married. I would rather have the latter.
Plus, if we had some sort of DECENT sexual education, (in the U.S., I don't know how it is elsewhere), the numbers across the board of unplanned children would drop.
As for your last paragraph...well said.
A UE was always fun:). As much as I loved that game, it should never have shipped in its initial condition. Either not enough play testing is done these days, or companies aren't responding to play testers opinions as well. There are exceptions to this, just listen to the developer commentary in a Orange Box game.
I have disliked the idea of having a game going gold and a patch being released before the ship date for a long time, though sometimes it is inevitable. It has become so commonplace that we completely disregard it.
Anyway, sorry for the off topic rant. As far as TFA goes, I'm glad it's happening even if it gets dismissed or beating down. Game companies need to be held responsible for their buggy software. While I am not sure Bungie and M$ deserve this lawsuit, perhaps it will open some eyes and prevent catastrophic launches for fear of being sued.
Unless the calendars are old...
A lot of the premise of Portal is on not being able to tell when and where you are. At some point in the past Aperture was obviously manned...but how long ago?
Two years ago I was part of a student panel discussion on what went wrong at Chernobyl.
My part of the discussion focused on the human error involved...and it was huge. There were numerous failures of the state and those in charge of the plant. Many bad decisions were made and it ended up costing them lives, land, and dignity.
So you all know, Chernobyl went up during a test that every other Soviet reactor had turned down. The test required disabling the emergency shut off button that dropped all the cooling rods into the core at once. The idiots did this all while continuing to operate the reactor. In the end, the technicians at the plant were heroes. They all worked extremely quickly to, many knowingly giving their lives, to make sure that it wasn't worse than it was.
If you want to know more about Chernobyl, check out 'The Chernobyl Notebook' by Grigority Medvedev. It is a chilling account of everything that went wrong.
You're right. I must have confused myself with terminology again. I apologize. It's really a shame COX wants us to pay $27,000 to install cable on our street, I'd be all over it.
So I'm paying for a TV show using on-demand and then am forced to watch ads also? Or is the on-demand service otherwise free. It sounds like a scam to me.
Flamebait or not, the parent is right.
Our government has gone overboard with things like this in the recent past. I just hope that the pendulum swings back sooner rather than later.
Too bad I used up all my mod points earlier today.
I may be totally wrong about this, but in the United States aren't you paying for a license when you buy the software? I was under the impression that the software maker retains all ownership of the code, you are simply buying the right to install the software following the rules of their license.
If anyone can clarify this that would be great.
Actually they did state this. In fact they specifically stated that any game that didn't follow Sony's TRC (technical requirement chcklist) in creating PS2 games would NOT work on the PS3. They also said any game that needed a new peripheral, such as Guitar Hero, would NOT work. They didn't need to state specifically "We did not expect 100%" because the above infers this to be true. There is a decent argument of using it as a dry space-dock where we could build and launch deeper space exploration vehicles for less fuel costs. Of course we still have to lift the materials off the earth to get them to the moon assuming that we don't quickly come up with a space mining program. Oh man moon trips are sounding smarter and smarter by the minute =\
I must say that this is wonderful. This is exactly what engineers are supposed to do: Take what you have and use it in the most efficient ways possible. I'm glad some people stepped up to such a huge challenge and, at least from their propaganda, have created a viable system that could really help one of this country's, IMHO, failing organizations. Kudos to that group.
But we will see how the GOP really lets that extra 35 billion get spent, new launch systems for STAR WARS enabled satellites?
If I recall correctly, the first Myst WAS made using a slightly modified version of HyperStudio. It was cool for me because at the time Myst came out (in Elementary school) we were learning how to use HyperStudios and make nifty things.
It was the first time I was ever interested in how something was made on the computer. I wanted to make my own Myst...HA
Why is this a troll? Self-discrimination is part of the/. culture!
By the way, what kind of companies can we actually expect to have the.tel domain? Is it reserved in any way shape or form to telecommunication sites, maybe VoIP?
at least when you get to a site that is only IE compatible you won't lose all your standard features...oh wait, we have to wait for Longhorn first. See: DN Forever

Hey, if I needed a larger penis, I'd emerge one. And unlike yours it would be highly optimised for my personal usage.
I guess you don't need a bigger one when it's only for personal use.

At that point .ca will be the top level domain.. ;)
Yes. You can choose no price.

Personally, I always considered tomatoes to be a fruit, but I see what you are saying. Sad thing is though, most people mean it in ALL ways.

The rocket, it looks like giant ... khrum!
Genesis duh. Game Gear over a Game Boy too ... I want my money back for all the batteries it ate though.
Same here, searched for Tribes instead though.
Easily one of the most popular, useful bugs ever. So popular, in fact, it was programmed in specifically to it's two sequels.
