I don't care how ISPs in other countries work. I understand paying for what you get; in the US you pay for speed. Another limit on top of that is just another way they want to make money. You think a company that wants to charge for everything is going to allow unthrottled BT? They're effectively throttling everything.
Good find. My first job in HS was at Atari playtesting video games for the Tengen system. (I knew someone who worked there as a 'game councelor' on their help line, a fellow Amiga fanatic, ironically) That would be coincidentally, not ironically. Also, counselor is how it's spelled, not councelor.
I actually tried Pathfinder this week as I knew of it before I bought the MBP. I'm not sure if I want to pay $35 for basic OS functionality. If I find other reasons I may break down and get it. I just wish this was built in. It is in EVERY other OS I've used including every flavor of Linux and Unix I've tried.
That's the exact same "answer" everybody else has and it does nothing to actually fix the problem. I want to sort by name, so I can find things, and I want folders at the top so I can dig through them quickly. I don't understand why they don't have it; it is a minimal amount of effort to incorporate.
Well, that sucks. I just need to know when they put in the option to have folder at the beginning of the list in finder. That's the one thing that drives me nuts about OS X. I have my files organized into multiple, many-levels-deep folders. Why they haven't included this feature, at least as an option, is beyond me. One large sand box of files doesn't work well a lot of the time.
The problem is that it is a first step. You may not think that they will continue down the path but just ask gun owners in California, England and Australia about that. They all required registration first, then used the registration lists to come get the guns when they decided that nobody should have them. You have to stop the journey at its outset. Also, I don't want something in my ID broadcasting itself all the time. It has been more than proven that RFID tags can be read easily for some distance. I don't like being tracked. And just because we have to nearly strip naked and bend over to get on a plane doesn't mean it's alright. Flying is a PITA and it shouldn't be that way.
My account was also created nearly 10 years ago. There was a period a few years ago when the filter didn't work worth a crap but it was quickly fixed and, as I said before, it works damned well now.
There's only one problem. It doesn't seem to me, from reading the article, that they uploaded the pictures from the school. What is done outside of school is no business of the school, that's the parents' jobs. If I was one of these students being "disciplined" I'd be finding a lawyer about now and suing the hell out of the school district.
What I'm wondering is what the hell kind of truck you bought. I'm honestly curious. If you would have bought a real one stuff like that wouldn't happen.
"There is no threading (seriously hard to follow conversations without threading). And, despite Slashdot's flawed moderation system, scanning article comments at +4 is usually a pleasant experience, and I can't find that kind of functionality on Digg as an anonymous reader."
You obviously don't look too hard. The threshold for comments is right under the "Comments" title. As for threading, I prefer it not threaded. I can read all the comments on one page and easily see who is replying to whom. Threaded replies are just a pain. That's why it took so long to reply to you as a I had to go throught all the replies to make sure someone hadn't already said what I wanted to.
Umm, jackass, the WAP54G is an ACCESS POINT. W = Wireless, A= Access, P= Point. It has routing features but no ethernet ports. I'm sure he's not completely wireless so that's why he has a router.
Also, disabling SSID broadcast does nothing but slow your network transmissions.
So now the government is never wrong? Ok. I guess we should go back to only white, male property owners voting. I understand that the government said they were a monopoly, but I disagree. They do not fit the definition of the word in my opinion. Disagreement with the government is what founded this country.
So they "lock" in their customers, just like every other software company. And, again, you just equate MS with monopoly. They have competitors, therefore they are not a monopoly. They have a huge lead in the PC market, yes, because they got on it early and made a better product. Some of the early stuff they did, like the buying of DOS, was shady, but still not illegal.
such as being forever locked into their "standard". Welcome to illegal monopoly practice hell.
Locked in....yes, maybe. Illegal monopoly practice....no. Its not illegal, and its not a monopoly. There are competitors, they just aren't as good. THAT is why people use it. MS Office is a good software package, albeit very overpriced. Personally, I use OO1.1, but that's just because I don't want to have to activate my Office over and over when I reinstall.
$100 to/.s charity of choice, or to/. itself, if the Purdue server goes down. I went there and they do have a healthy backbone. Many many m/bits were pulled by me and my pals. Never a problem, nor a whimper.;-)

I'm using BeyondTV 4 and it recorded Medium just fine. I'll be sure to file complaint after complaint if this starts affecting me.

Funny, the spam filter on my Yahoo works great and has for a long while. I get maybe one out of a hundred that slips through.

Lightning/Sunbird has shared calendar support already. If that's all you're looking for go for it.

So there.
Then they wouldn't be allowed to put it into the source because Linux must remain open. That means everything, including drivers.

wow, just wow. I've got pissed at games before but damn, that guy needs to chill out....big time.
