Just note that Azureus uses a non-standard Java UI API called SWT. This was developed by IBM for the Eclipse project and it is significantly biased towards Windows, and is more of a fish-out-of-water on other OSes.
The parent comment is not flamebait and whoever modded that as such needs to read the moderation guidelines. Yes, that is you I am talking to Mr. Apple Fanboy!
You realize they did this because those little pins that contact inside the connect can only handle a couple 100 mA of current before they start to melt through the plastic, right?
... yes I suspected as much. Kind of suggests they should not have used such small connectors? A molex or new connector with 2-4 big pins (molex are naff) would have done the trick.
My Mac Mini decided it did not have an optical drive for some reason. There is no eject button and no pinhole to force the ejection of the disc, so are in a bit of a pickle if a disc is in there and you want to get it out. Say like a rented DVD movie you want to return...
I rang the shop where I rented the disc, and they were pretty cool about it as I had a legitimate reason for not returning it, so they did not apply a late fee. It took several days to get the disc out. I could not open it, because it was under warranty, and dissambling Mac Minis has more incommon with watch repair than servicing a regular PC.
At one point I found my self holding the Mac in both hands and shaking it back and forwards to see if that would dislodge it. Later on the OS saw the drive again and I was able to eject it by the normal means of dragging the disc to the trash (on account of how intuitive Macs are).
Today, Theo de Raadt declared that henceforth he would "be nice to people", because "not even the mightiest asshole gods on Mount Asshole can top the the egomaniacal rantings of this Rails douchebag who no-one has ever heard of".
By comparing the significance of their work versus there public tactfulness, Linus Torvalds has now been awarded the Nobel Prize for niceness, and the American Marriage Council has awarded Hans Reiser 'Husband Of The Year'.
Do the XP/Vista firewalls ask you the first time an app like this tries to make an outbound connection? Can you set them to or do you need to install a 3rd party firewall?
Well then you don't know anything about left-handedness. If it was a DNA related thing, left-handed parents would be more likely to give birth to left-handed kids.
But this guy speaks asswards:
"With such a small shop I have to spend a great deal of my time maintaining operational excellence." ...plugged out the the kettle from the UPS and plugged the server back in.
"During my first year at Sequoia I concentrated on improving the processes that affect operational excellence." ...stopped answering user queries with "Have you tried turning it off and turning it on again?"
"With these processes largely working, I must now spend my time providing a technological vision for Sequoia." ... 1 week surfin' = 3 slide vision Powerpoint.
"As you can imagine, creating a fully functional disaster recovery plan requires an enormous amount of time--and, as I noted above, I've been focused on operational excellence, not long-term strategic planning." ... No, we have never tested restoring from the backups.
You know what happened? IBM consultants met someone a bovine coprologist even mightier than them, and that scared them.
Hmm, moderation is quite poor on Slashdot lately. Whether I agree with what you said is taking priority over how well expressed or argued your opinion is.
That 'fix' is in the support database, but it does not work for this new Orange Box problem - and there are plenty of people complaining about this problem on the SteamPowered forum. However it is only affecting a minority of users.
I have gone as far as to uninstall steam and reinstall with no success.
By the way, what pecker-head modded my original post off-topic? This is about the game under discussion. If I was ranting about Ron Paul, 9/11, Microsoft, that would be off-topic.
... there is a serious bug in the Steam platform that means that some people cannot play the new games. Valve support are not responding so far. There has been speculation that a lot of people went on overdue vacations after the Orange box release, but that is no help to those of us who laid down $50 for the game and cannot play ten days later.
For those of us affected by this problem, the updating never completes, so that when you launch it you get a message saying the game is not ready to be played. There are suggested fixes for such errors in general, but they don't work for this Orange Box problem. older games like CS:S or Episode 1 play fine.
But their savings are in US$ and their income is in US$ too 'cos they didn't move, 'cos they didn't do anything about it, same as no-one is doing anything about the underlying issues they threatened to move over, 'cos they are scared, and now I have have no Slashdot karma 'cos of poor moderation, 'cos no-one got it but I am not worried about moderation any more 'cos there is no moderation specifically for having a run-on sentence.
Does the metamoderation still work around here? Some simple minded mod seems to think I am Dick Cheney or something, rather than someone poking fun at what has almost become a Slashdot meme.
Ah come on! It is such a meme on sites like this to say "fuck it, I'm off to Canada" in humans rights related discussions. Thought it would be funny to pretend they really did.
Everything works backwards down there - Summer is in December, colder in the South, water spirals down the drain in the opposite direction... and Linux on the desktop.

I like Vista, but I still think the parent post is pretty funny, so that downmod seems unfair.

Are you telling me that normal clothes are not self-cleaning, and you are meant to wash them or something?

I am not buying one till they get that OS up to 3.0 at least.
This means we will be using 'The Register'-style headlines as in:
Microsoft! Announces! Delay! To! Windows 7! Release!

Parallel ATA (A.K.A IDE): Big Parallel data cable with a shitload of pins. 4 pin power cable.
:-)
Serial ATA: Serial data cable with just 7 pins. Power cable has twice as many pins!
Did they just move the lines to the power cable?
Somebody please tag this 'theibmmainframechargingmodel'.
Oh dear,
You are right:
"Reading the actual article can be informative and fulfilling."
We have a sample point that indicates otherwise.

You did all move to Canada right?
