Say what you will but HP is one of very few that actually fully support Linux.
This is not so true. My coworker has a year-old HP Laserjet that won't work with Linux. These days I avoid them at any cost with all those flimsy plastic builds, but there was a time when Laserjets were solid.
I could be confusing it with the original Halo, but doesn't Halo 2 support LAN play? I recall a piece of software titled GameSpy Arcade that allows XBox LAN play to be tunneled over the internet. They even provide matchmaking servers where you can meet people online, chat with them and then fire up a game. Is there any reason why this doesn't work with Halo 2?
3 : violence, compulsion, or constraint exerted upon or against a person or thing
Emphasis mine. Constraining me from using my content = force. You may be an adult but your grasp of the English language (not to mention your flaming) is weak.
Hello troll. Yes they force me to access their network if I want to continue playing games that I have already purchased. It's not about features I want, it's about content I've paid for. I'm not sure how you could consider this to be anything but force.
I'm still disappointed over the removal of the OtherOS feature. That being said, this extension to the EULA is neither surprising or actually useful in any way. By limiting my access to the PSN (and the downloadable games and content I have purchased through it) Sony has already basically forced me into updating my PS3 firmware any damn time they feel like it. So to claim they have the right to do so automatically doesn't really have any more of a negative impact beyond what I already suffer.
I think this is excellent. TF2 already runs pretty great under Wine, I consistently get ~ 60FPS with max resolution and effects.Perhaps if they release a native port I can get closer to the 90FPS I can achieve with Windows.
Not that it really matters much at those rates, but on newer games that will push my hardware to the limits it could be the difference between 20 FPS and 30.
Is the guy's career ruined or did he just get a pay raise for this unofficially sanctioned and hype generating leak?

No, not as far as audio is concerned. You cannot tape conversations in MD - even in public - if you do not have consent of both parties. Police in Baltimore use and abuse this law on a regular basis when they are filmed in public. Fark or Slashdot had a story on this many months ago.
Regulations are in place to force companies to protect data that they would otherwise have very little incentive to protect. Protecting data that is important to the company itself comes naturally and does not require mandates.
I suspect a major reason for this is that the Windows version requires a whole bunch of libs that Apple ported over from OS X which then need to be loaded just for iTunes and which themselves may not be very well-optimized compared to the mac versions.
Yet I'm running iTunes right now and it's using 47 MiB of RAM while playing a 192-320 kbps VBR mp3 from a 8000+ song library.
I am curious to know if you are running iTunes on Windows or Mac OS. I've used iTunes mostly on my Windows desktop and I think it it's slow and bloated, but when I saw a coworker run iTunes on his lesser-equipped MacBook it screamed by comparison. I don't have iTunes at work so I can't compare RAM usage at the moment, but if I were into bets I would make one that you're running on a Mac.
That being said, I think the loss of Songbird on Linux sucks pretty bad. On the other hand, I once ran Songbird on Windows, plugged my iPod in to see how well the support worked and then watched it trash my iPod library even though I didn't make any changes to it and only wanted to look.
It's a great idea but I find it a bit funny that the legislative branch is not included in this bill.

Won't these servers bathed in oil still have the same thermal output? I don't understand why it would be cheaper to cool oil than it would air or any other medium..
Cadillac and I believe a few Buick and Oldsmobile cars have had a simpler version of this for at least a decade now. In certain models of these cars, your direction and speed are projected onto the lower part of the windshield directly in front of the driver. Sure it's simple, but I was actually very fond of being able to see how fast I was going without having to look down at the dashboard. I look forward to seeing what else they can do with this as long as it doesn't become yet another distraction from the road.
Ahh, replying to one troll of an AC, but here goes: See my page. For the record I have exactly 1 customization to the default template, it adds the strike-through text decoration to the musicians that I've already seen. Notice that I have a music player on my page, but it doesn't blast music at any volume until you click play. That's more customization they allow, first to include the music player and secondly to say "No, don't force my music on anyone who hasn't clicked play." I'm not bothered one bit if you don't like my profile, but don't knock it until you've seen it.
I know that Myspace gets a lot of crap for their often ugly and tasteless profile pages, but I really love being able to customize my own HTML and CSS on my profile. It's funny to me that the often pro-choice Slashdot crowd sees these features as a bad thing. Sure, most people choose to use awful profile templates but personally I enjoy having the choice to add some clean and simple decorations. Facebook doesn't offer that choice, nor do they offer the choice to opt-out of a few terrible paragraphs in their ToS, which is why I left two years ago.
I will have to re-read the new Myspace ToS before I decide whether or not to cancel my account, but if they go the way of Facebook's "We can re-license your personal photographs to whomever we want" terms then I will certainly be leaving Myspace as well. Where will I go? Who knows, perhaps it's time for me to clean the dust off of my personal domain.
Have you looked at the transmission of a Ferrari? Or an Alfa Rameo? Drum roll...
Its an automatic! Even in Formula 1 the days of clutching and shifting are long gone.
You probably don't have much of an idea of what you are talking about. The "automatic" transmission in high end sports cars (including some Mercedes) is actually a computer controlled clutch. The car does all of the proper revving, gear shifting and clutch release involved with a manual transmission, but does so much faster than any human could ever shift. So while they are automatic transmissions, clutching and shifting still happens underneath of the hood.
This is much more advanced than standard automatic transmissions (including many "Tiptronic" systems) that use momentum-wasting torque converters to change gears and prevent the engine from stalling when the car is stopped.
So... what happens to the downloaded movies that you've "bought" once the inevitable PS4 comes out?
I imagine these downloads are treated like all other content on the PSN, they are linked to your account. You are allowed to activate your downloadable content on up to 5 devices so I imagine you could simply sign into your new PS4 when it comes out and re-download your content.
On a similar note, two other friends and I have all activated our PSN accounts on all of our PS3s and we share DLC all the time. I'm saving my other two activations in case my PS3 goes bad or the day I say "Hey look at my new PS4!"
I have a 40" TV and you have to be close to blind not to see the difference between 1080p and an upscaled DVD from couch distance.
I'd like to point out that "couch distance" varies for everyone. I have a 61" 1080p set and a long living room. While the difference between DVD and Bluray is noticeable to a small degree, there really doesn't seem to be that much of a difference to me. Both DVD and Bluray are miles ahead of the over-compressed and artifact-riddled "1080p" offered by Time Warner or Dish Network, but the difference between the two disc formats appears minimal to my 20/20 eyes.

I think so. When you combine it with other necessary concepts like NAT, proxies and IPv4 vs IPv6 it can get confusing pretty quickly.
