1. Static Content Server on MySpace Private Pictures Leak · · Score: 3, Informative

Myspace appears to use a static content server that does no validation of who you are before returning JPGs.

When not working or browsing Slashdot, a friend and I will exchange URLs to profile pics of "interesting" looking women. If the profile is private, the URL to the private JPG is not protected and we would exchange those instead. I haven't spent any time trying to find a pattern in the seemingly-random JPG names, so it appears difficult to pull the private images of any one person, but in general everyone's pics are available if you know the URL.
When you got the music in digital format pirated you don't get any additional value by buying the CD.
Sure you do, some of my favorite albums have the best album art. Besides if you only listen to your digital pirated copies, you'll have a perfectly unscratched, original CD to keep as an archive. There are other neat tricks they can put into the authentic purchase of the CD, like getting to buy concert tickets a few days in advance if you can show you bought the disc.

I'm not saying it's something I do very often, but when my favorite bands have a new album coming out I'm not ashamed to grab a copy off the net, pre-release, then buy the disc when it goes on sale.

That full featured OS you're running has to fit somewhere. You can't really compare the two just because the underlying hardware is similar, unless you want your PC to be about as useless as an XBox.

I leave my WiFi open. I mean hey, why not? I think the practice started somewhere in a college apartment, where there are 12 unsecured APs that break just often enough to make paying for your own internet connection worth the while. Anyways, I broadcast my SSID for all five of my neighbors that are close enough to borrow the bandwidth. If they get out of hand and I start to notice my own performance dropping, their MAC gets banned.

I'm sure there are many reasons why I should have it locked down, but it's easy enough to share so I do. I think the internet should be free, so I'm doing my very small part.

Ever play Halo 3 on your HDTV? Pixels are found at almost every edge in the game. I was very unimpressed last night when my friend brought it over to play on my 1080P set, yes it is the first time I've seen Halo 3. Bioshock, on the other hand, looked fantastic on the 360 and really blew Halo 3 out of the water as far as visuals go.

I'm not "crying over 80P" here, I'm pointing out the fact that Halo 3 looks a lot more like "Halo 2.5" and that other games on the same system look much nicer.

I feel almost certain that this will do the trick! Thanks for your feedback, every replacement bar I have seen so far plugs into the Wii itself -- which I assume will be no more powerful than the stock sensor.

This sensor with its AC adapter should be able to provide a brighter IR signal for better long-distance remote control. I've got it on order, thanks again!

I actually get a better response from my Wii if I pull the sensor bar a bit over the top edge of my TV screen. Further out than flush seemed to make a big difference in my living room. I still can't reliably use the thing from across the room where I would like.

I've been waiting for a good 3rd party sensor bar that might actually glow a bit brighter. You mention the "Nintendo Stock sensor bar" and imply there are better sensor bars out there. Have you had any success extending the practical range of your Wii with a better sensor bar? Do you have any brands you would suggest?

So it's not hardware accelerated, first person, three-dimensional goodness. But it still is a very solid and faithful replication of everything that makes Portal, well, Portal.
