Thank you. In the last ten years, it has become clear that we are all at the "mercy" of an MBA with a spreadsheet, looking for that extra $5.00 per transaction. Thanks guys. May your beach house wash out in the next non-climate-change related hurricane.
For all the wrongheaded transit ideas in NYC, banning electric bikes is on the list of bad ideas. Something between a bicycle and a taxi cab is needed, and Americans don't do mopeds.
The reason passwords suck is:
This one wants eight characters, with a symbol and letter
This one wants eight characters, with NO symbols, and a letter
This one wants upper and lower case letters
This one wants upper and lower case with a symbol and number
This one want upper and lower with no symbols.
The formats change all the time, so it is no wonder that most people end up with a post it note stuck to the computer, or if stealthy, inside the draw.
Do NOT give them ideas. It is bad enough that you need to pick your car carefully as to ensure aftermarket parts, because any "car maker only" part is exorbitantly priced.
Rent options ? A car is an appliance...
The only problem here is that the credit card industry will then figure out yet another way to screw the small merchant. PCI compliance is a great idea. The various "insurance policies" and "penalty fees for PCI noncompliance" pushed by the interchange companies are a rip off and farce. They aren't going after my small business......but I'll pay more money to someone because some Russians hacked Target. Thanks !!!
By the way, why do we have interchange companies anyway ???
Teens in House. All Content comes from the web. Very occasionally, a "glee" or "Dr Who" comes up, and they get away from the computer and sit in front of the big screen. 99% of the time they are in front of the big screen, it is Netflix streaming the content, and occasionally a less formal streaming service.
Appointment TV....zero. This is why I can't watch the evening news without seeing horrible drug ads (or ads for horrible drugs-but I appear to get a beach house if I take that drug)
The kids have left the building. The only time they really use my home theater is for a movie with surround sound.
Knowing someone who made good health choices, but had congestive heart failure anyway, and is now alive due to an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), I'd say that you don't have any clue about the real world. Yes, some folks drink or smoke themselves sick, but guess what ? Parts fail. We'll just leave you by the side of the ER when yours do...
American workers have been forced to compete with the third world. Why should Germans be surprised that companies want to do this to them. It is not about nations, it is now about how corporations can destroy wage bases and workers benefits.
US Amazon does NOT have a Union.....luckily the German state has a place for worker's organization.
I hope German workers stand firm.
You could not fake radio messages from the moon. The signals where UHF, line of sight. Anyone with the equipment to receive it also had to point those antennas....triangulate......
You have to get out of orbit...you need to get to the moon....you need to get into lunar orbit and then land....successfully. Read the history of the Ranger Program to see how much work this took the US, and they were crashing onto the moon, not trying to land a working Rover. Getting the insertions correct is not easy. China has done something difficult and laudable.
While I'm sure they had the full data from the US program, and the USSR program, making this happen is still a great achievement.
I have noticed how the US media is paying little attention to this......
My Town is unusual in that we have an equal spread of folks in each quintile. That is, we have a few legit plutocrats and a few folks "on scholarship" for school lunch, and everyone in between.
Unless you are the NSA or IRS (or both) income is a tricky thing to guess.
If the landing were a hoax, don't you think the Russians and others would have busted us years ago ? You can't fake a transmission from high orbit.
Morons. The same sort that burn witches....
Thank you I can't tell you how many cell phone conversations are Hey....ar......then we......and sooon...what do you think about that ?
I'm a ham radio op, and have had conversations with stations on other continents that were way clearer than trying to negotiate school pickup.
I"ve no problem with time marching on, and currently have an IP phone via cableco, which works well. The problem is when you get a Sprint/TMobile quality cell signal......and if you allowed that at home, it would be a disaster.
I too miss "Toll Quality" calls.
Much SD tv sucked because the standards of productions got so low it meant you never had a decent picture. I have two SD screens fed by downconverted HD TV, and fed with RGB inputs. It is still a 480i picture but it is the best SD you ever saw.....
Oh yes, a cultural difference. I'm advised by my German relatives that you save up for the new car then pay cash at purchase, compared to seeing what is on the lot and what the bank will allow for 72 months.
In a nutshell this is why in the US a typical BMW is a honda clone...no manuals, no sport packages, etc. You get leather and premium package, or stripper....no sport oriented cars. Order and wait.
The reason for options and such is that so no two cars are alike. There will always be the ones on the lot that don't match whatever you researched on line. (unless you buy to order, rare in the US) so the pricing isn't clear...by design.
This poster is on, though. When you go car shopping, do it at the end of the month, on a bad weather day, and fully expect to spend at least an hour, maybe two, in each dealership. If you go in expecting this to take way longer than it should, you have negated the time factor they play on. Make sure you have financing aligned already, and that there is no trade in deal to confuse things.
Don't worry. The same folks who assigned Cheney to watch W. would make sure she spent her time with great scenic backdrops allowing large companies to strip mine, er, trim, the forests. You don't think the President, whoever he/she/it is, actually runs the place, do you ? Oh, they can drop a bomb, or something, but the financial and legal levers don't move. Why would both Bush and O be shoveling money into the back doors of the Banks, otherwise ?
Searched on line for a vacation once. Six months of being followed around by a Club Med Ad....creepy. Same ad, variety of websites.......
Loyal adblock user now. I never really minded, but do I need a "personal Barker ?" No, I don't.
Germany, 1930's was a state with rule of law. Bit by bit it was dismantled. We know the end result, but the end result was due to very deliberate chipping away at the underlying laws and through "correct" Judge selection.
Really, now that the political class KNOWS that NSA and others are reading all of THEIR mail, who will challenge them ? None of them, and if they play nice, they might get a "tidbit" about their adversary. Osama Bin Laden succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, even if he is dead.

I'm grateful for self employment......
"Inconceivable !" I do not believe that word means what you think it means.... FTFY
The last time I walked into a bricks and mortar bank, I learned that the Feds will want ID if you make a cash deposit, starting next year. True ?

You don't need a pulse. The EMT know that an LVAD does not give a pulse....

Actually, I just read the benefits here in NY. Chemo is covered....I hope to never need that "benefit".

On the island of Curaco, there is one of these installations of domes. At the end of the island, unmarked, and pointed, probably, at Venezuela.
