funny thing.. well atleast i thought it was funny.. my parents bought a wireless card a MN-520.. cheep MS hardware.. from their hardware division.. well it worked fine.. they needed to reformat the drive and lost the driver disk.. MS doesn't provide a download for the MN-520 drivers.. nor do they say they ever made it except in some Kb articals about it and the 720.. and i find it funny that windows update will find drivers for their via audio but not the MS wireless card..

it was replaced with a linksys..

do to the fact that i do not have much experience reading doc or ODF in code i can't comment on it exactly i was just giving an example directed at the question - which in both now and previous was - how can a file format be slow.

that is all - take it or leave it or bash it.. i was just talking from what i know..

i wish i could post back to my own comments on this last time..

when reading a document like ODF (and anything based on XML) you have to read the whole file in to understand any of it (i know this isn't exact but i don't want to type it all out) with a binary format like a doc file.. what you need first is first.. you can understand a section by jumping to it and geting just that portion instead of the whole thing..

it is the same with saving.. updating portions of the file instead of the whole thing.

ODF is nice in that it is human readable and easy to write code to read and write them BUT it is slow.. you can only optmize so much in code.. if your working with a bad layout you can only go so fast

MS has spent years optimizing the doc format ODF was not thought out for speed.

the main reason i was saying that they kinda support it is because i have never seen them go after them before it is released on DVD - afterwards yea.. they go after people.. but then true fans (from what in know) will go and buy it when it is avaliable..

once there is a good high quality internet distrubution site for things like that that they don't have to have control to the point that i can't even see it on the computer i want to - then i think alot of fansubs will go away because people will be able to go out and get it and have it.. (and no iTunes video quality sucks ass)

Fansubs are the one thing that i belive make the best point.

many people download them and share them .. but that is for the simple fact that it is the ONLY way to watch them.. once they bring them stateside 99% of the fansub sites drop the files and most of the people (atleast the ones i know) go and buy the DVD's because they want to support it and want the nice disks and art and good quality..

And i am glad to see (from what i have seen) that most anime producers realize this and don't go after fansub sharing people because they know that it is to their benifit..

now when it comes to music.. the only online thing i have come to like is http://www.magnatune.com/...
