this is one case where the lawyers fucked up.. back when this all started they agreed on a lump sum to cover the case.. SCO paid it.. and now it gets dragged out and the lawyers are on their own time.. this isn't costing SCO any more money that that one time payment.. last time i saw figures on it.. (i wish i remembered where it was) the law firm was making just over minimum wage per man hour..
now when they lose man that is going to teach someone.. (atleast i hope so)
a friedn of my dads took their laptop to best buy.. they told her she needed a new hard drive and mainboard and that they could do it for 1100$.. (the laptop new was 800$) so she gave it to my dad because he had one like it and figured he could use the battery and power adapter..
anyways.. to make a short story short.. he had me look at it..
all it needed was fixmbr under recovery console.. i so badly wanted to go teach them a lesson (as she had already bought a new laptop from them) but i found it not worth my time to go there.. we gave the working laptop back to her and told her never to go to best buy
where i live the do the chalk thing too.. i walked out just intime to see a cop making my tires.. i have him holy hell about vandilizing my car.. caught him completely off gaurd - he really had no excuse.. jsut said he was sorry and i left.
it was all in good fun though.. i am glad they ticket people.. i just hate it when the see a meeter with like 2 min on it and jsut stand there and wait for it.. i had one like that (diffrent cop) they stuck the ticket to the windshield as i was turnning the car on.
ok so how do you explain the opening of the source.. sure you have to register/pay for it but it is there.
when you look at linux.. and the documentation for some of the stuff - well it just isn't always there.. sure you can find support and answer your questions.. if mabey the competition started working with it and messing around and trying instead of getting the EU to do there job then they could make it work..
you have to look at it from both sides.. the competition wants MS to hand everythign over on a silver plater and teach them to make software for windows. and they have the EU on their side.. on the other hand.. the comepition woln't open up their software to the extent they want MS to.. i mean really.. can someone show me full documentation on how to use the real player api to make it do what i want.. hell no they arn't going to open it up completely.. sure i can do some things but not every thing.. it is the same with windows..

to be honest.. if it was going on for 3 months.. why didnt' they just filter his MAC.. sure he could just get another card.. but you block that one and quickly the guy would leave.

it is free.. and honestly it is one of the few things that i am glad isn't open source.. because well they inovate soo much and move very fast that if it was open for all well it wouldn't have the value because it would be forked every 5 min
that is a "Forum" where you have many companys - sure SCO is the main but it is also a player in the OS area and both HP and mySQL have products that run on it and they have an intrest in getting their product into that market share even if it is small..
that does not mean that they are supporting the company SCO - it just means it want's people that use SCO products and like to talk about them to also use theirs.
all you would need is a good quality polarizer filter.. they already exist and to be honest.. i never take mine off. although i use a DSLR so this stuff would be useless already.. but that is mute.
if you have a polarizer then the light they are sending out woln't be able to see the ccd unless you are trying to take a picture OF the light emiter.. and even then the reciver would more than likly not see the reflection let alone be able to tell the shape of the reflection as it would more than likly be distorted
