i'm not sure but it isn't a trick of electorstatic forces as it manifests between to non charged (non energetic) plates in a vacume with no pressend electro magnetic field pressend around or between the plates.
i agree buying ATI was amistake for AMD - i never in my mind would have seen that comming..
if nothing i would see AMD buying nVidia and Intel buying ATI. that to me seems like a better match up.
now Intel woln't use ATI chips on boards as that is supporting their competitor - so they forced Intel into competing the graphics market - which i will say they seem to be doing quite well with.
while i like ATI (alwasy have like their cards compared to nVidia - i liked that ATI designed and built the cards them selves - you got exactly what you though you where getting when purchaseing) at this point i am left wondering what to do. but i do know i am not going to the AMD camp again.. their defect rate is way to high for my sanity
the number of video cards sold vs. the number of CPU's sold is jsut a small fraction.
and considering the price distrubution of products bought - having the best on the high end doens't help too much as it is out of the price range of most computers sold.
so no - it isn't going to save them - while it helps - it willnot save by any means.
i agree AMD did for a while have a great price/speed point.. but i have never found AMD (overall) to be nearly as stable and of high quality for CPU's as Intel
the number of AMD cpu's i have RMA'ed vs. Intel's i have RMA'ed is sickining.
for now i am sticking with Intel - they have redeamed them selves after the Netburst crap
the glowing might also be a clue - but you know people - it will jsut spark their imaginiation - and they will use that nice self warming metal as a bed warmer - and the glow as a night light
i think apple would be far happier with Dell or HP or even Asus puting OSX on boxes.. because they will atleast be (have a good chance of) being stable and correctly done - where as alot of fly by night startups would use questionable hardware configurations.
example.. a Blue Screen of death in windows is something that everyone knows.. and associates with windows - yet only a hardware/driver failure can cause one. the lower quality the hardware/drivers the more likely for it to happen
Apple with OSX is known for stability - start putting it on low quality hardware/drivers and that stability is going to go away - which would be a major loss to Apples image
i was sure that the reason they didn't do it right away was if they lost then there would be an overnight startup every night doing this - and that is much worse than a single gutsy shady company doing it.
now that the WoW case set presendce the risk of loss for Apple in this case has dropped to near 0%.. makes sence that they would do it now.
i will have to say one thing.. i never would have through about the wave coming from inshore - also that one rock face took most of the direct energy.. imagine if it hadn't been there..
i higly doubt that that is the case - i have seen alot of the work that was done on the Saturn V - there is no doubt in my mind that if they wanted to build another they would know exactly what to make and how to make it and how to put it together.
we do training classes - where the guys have to take their laptop and a projector.. i can't tell you how many times they leave the cords for the projector at home.. they remember the projector.. but they will pull the cords out of the bag and stick the projector in their luggage and leave the cords at home.. and of course the call me and ask what to do...
sometimes i wish they could see the expressions i am making when they call me.....
while i agree -that we need to be recycling alot that we arn't it will eventoutly happen..
like many things (steel is one) it will go in steps
1) mass produce as fast as we can 2) resources are harder to find so price goes up 3) prices are high but cost of product recycled is still more expensive 4) prices for product from raw match or exceed price of product from recycled 5) major effort to recycle and shif production 6) co exist selling product made from both raw and recycled material 7) adjust price of final product to reflect total proccess costs - as raw gets more expensive we will use more recycled untill there is a shortage 8) (we havn't gotten to this yet.. but fun to watch)
we will eventuly recycle everything - but people have to be forced to.. either by other people or with costs..
humans just have the metal vision of "i don't give a fuck - it isn't going to affect me - i am one person i woln't make any diffrence" until you force them to change they woln't..
every day that goes by i wish i could get nasa to send me to mars to get me the hell off this rock
i have an AT&T phone - i don't have a text message plan because i have the data plan and juse AIM/ICQ on my phone...
i get charged 25cents for each incoming text message - there is no way for me to disable incoming text messsages...
that is bull shit - i don't want them - but they don't have a way of disabeling them coming in - and yet they will happly charge me for incoming...
if they are going to charge on a per message basis - the sender should play flat out, oh wait they do... then why the hell am i paying to recive?
right now at AT&T the rate (if you don't have a messagling plan) is 35cents to send and 25cents recive..
that is 60 cents per message..
are they trying to tell me that they are so damn bad at delivering small bits of data accross the cell network that it costs them more than the oh so inefficent us postal office does to send a first class letter physicly accross the country (42cents)
the phone compaines are full of shit.. as soon as there is a better way - I.e. a company that doesn't screw everyone over.. i will be more than happy to switch
i didn't even think about that.. but every time you have someone clear a check engine light stat code.. it is the same a clearing an error message from a desktop..
now we need texas to define what a computer is/
cause if it does cover every freaken micro controller that state is going to have to just build the prison feance around it's self..
i have the touch screen version - had it set up as a second display on my media PC so you could reach over to the side table and queue stuff up while it played on the other display.
only issue with that is that the drivers for the touch screen on it relayed the pointer to the primary monitor.. which got screwy if the media pc botched and put the TV as primary inestead of the Lilliput
although the one got the touch screen really doesn't like the kvm

humm raid10 only allows for the failure of 2+ disks if it isn't the same stripe set.
also noteing is said raid 10 waste's disk and power.
as all raid 10 is is a striped set of mirror sets your disk cost increases by 2 instead of 1 for each set in the stripe set - with raid 6 you lose 2 drives for parrity space no matter if you have 4 or 40 drives in the set
raid10 is just ineffecent and no better than raid5 on a harware controler - (software raid some times runs 10 better than 5)
if you can raid6 is the way to go expecaly if you have a very large array set inwhich disk failure rebuilds take a good amount of time. to many times i have had a raid5 set with a hot spare where one drive fails - it kicks over to the spare and then another failed in the set before the rebuild was finished. when that happens.. off to the backups we go..
also don't forget servers - LOT's of CPU's there and zero GPU's.. racks apon racks of them
i'm not sure but it isn't a trick of electorstatic forces as it manifests between to non charged (non energetic) plates in a vacume with no pressend electro magnetic field pressend around or between the plates.

oh god please don't remind me of VIA - i have worked hard the past 8 years to block their existance from my mind..
