it would only be antitrust if the pecificly designed the equipment so that only they could do the upgrades - then charged you 200% for the same hardware and service

oh i know but really how many times have you seen people do it??
it happens alot.. and a.local TLD will screw them..
as for the DHCP thing.. in places i go that i see configured like this.. it is normaly beacuse they are using some netproviders router that has DHCP on it.. and rather than run their own DHCP server they just use the one provided (small biz)
it is a much more common mistake than it should ever be
local is the domain server is thename of the server
adds a domain PC.. call PC
then they have something OTHER than the AD acting as the dhcp and DNS server for their network.
now when doing a.local domain pratice is to add your server.local's ip to the DNS name list.. (should be the first they ask but not always).. that way when.local isn't resolvable to the other DNS serves it will find server.local and resolve servers ip so that the PC can talk and auth the login
now say that.local can be resolved.. before it asks server.local.. and you have a DNS box for local that gives 1 ip for *.local
PC tries to login.. finds server.local but is using the IP given by the wonderfuly newly registered.local TLD instead fo server.local
now users can't login.. other servers on.local get confused when trying to reach each other
while all is avoildable - and all can be fixed - all will be pains in the asses
in IT that is slowly changing as large compaines are realizing that good talent isn't alwasy the person with the paper - if you look at job postings for IT now days they will say "x paper" or experience
if you are in the US normal AC is between 110-125v
at 20 amps that outlet can provide 2,200-2,500 watts before the current load flips the breaker
unless you have alot of computers all on the same circute you don't need to worrie about the draw on the outlet
at home i have 2 computers 1 lcd monitor 1 crt monitor a laser printer and networking stuff.. constant draw is about 250 watts (at 124v that is 2 amps) when the printer fires up it draws 10 amps for a second but other than that power is normal
if you are looking to make a strong but lower power comp.. the ATOM will give you the extream low power but the strong isn't there - the ATOM is made for simple tasks at low power availability
on top of that the ratings you see on the power blocks is normaly the dc output - the kill-a-watt meausres the power draw on the AC side before conversion - there is no doubt that router is running on less than 8watts as you lose in the conversion and heat. and most bricks arn't what you would call effecient devices they are cheap.
but as the power total isn't much the effeciency isn't that big of a deal
if you are only 50% effecient in conversion but that loss is only say 10 watts no big deal compared to a loss of several hundrad watts with an old AT non switching powersupply
sadly the commercial licenses usualy make more sence to me, as they arn't normaly trying to be all encompasing of all posiable software but rather writen around the software in question
while it has a limited view for interaction - the Hitman and SOF seiries did a great job of this.. make a noise here be see with x there.. it changed the environment - either making things easier or harder.. i agree it didn't change the overall storyline.. but rather jsut how you progressed in it..
but they both did alot better than most of the stuff you see out there today
i run raid6 + hot spare
because i really don't like arrays failing.. it keeps me up at night
it would only be antitrust if the pecificly designed the equipment so that only they could do the upgrades - then charged you 200% for the same hardware and service
raid 10 is a waist of disks and power
raid6 is the way to go
wouldn't this be a good use for RFID tags/? they should be tough enough to handel it
well that is good news
no not to the host file..
too many times i have seen poeple setup domains with .local
then go to the router provided by their net connection company and jsut add the internal ip of server.local to the dns server list.
that way when a client gets the DNS info via DHCP it will have
isp1's ip
isp2's ip
server.local's id
it's stupid i know.. but it happens alot more than you would think
oh i know but really how many times have you seen people do it??

nope.. here is an example
someone set up domain server..
server.local
local is the domain server is thename of the server
adds a domain PC.. call PC

i know - i just don't have any mod points.. so i give the best version of them i had at the time
+1 for perfect refrence
i was thinking the same thing when i read that
persontal i want to try and get .local
just so i can fuck with all the small biz NT/AD domain installs out there that doen't use a fully qualified name
as soon as .local is resolvable soooo many people are going to have a bad day
in IT that is slowly changing as large compaines are realizing that good talent isn't alwasy the person with the paper - if you look at job postings for IT now days they will say "x paper" or experience
kinda simple
watts = amps * voltage
if you are in the US normal AC is between 110-125v
at 20 amps that outlet can provide 2,200-2,500 watts before the current load flips the breaker
unless you have alot of computers all on the same circute you don't need to worrie about the draw on the outlet

what?
the current qoute "Never frighten a small man -- he'll kill you." seems more relevent
with a 1.6 billion investment.. i would count on "pretty rare" being "pretty common"
then again.. that is just my luck
well damn then.. i have been waisting alot of mod points..
same here.. i liked jsut having the random blocks and building what i could.. my favorite was a sub i built.. it worked quite well
that is why i use underrated
i would love to have a set of metal legos
get them in diffrent alloys.. make a car.. could be fun
"once Adam & Eve ate the fruit and became smart, they put clothes on - to be in public without clothes on is an affront to modesty and morality."
so in that view.. before they ate the apple... god is a perv?
sadly the commercial licenses usualy make more sence to me, as they arn't normaly trying to be all encompasing of all posiable software but rather writen around the software in question
that would be really entertaining to watch.. expecialy if they get get a live feed going..
i might even hook up another monitor and have it run as a screen saver and aim it at the hallway - and see who figures out what it is first
that jsut means the price goes up
while it has a limited view for interaction - the Hitman and SOF seiries did a great job of this.. make a noise here be see with x there.. it changed the environment - either making things easier or harder.. i agree it didn't change the overall storyline.. but rather jsut how you progressed in it..
