Number one rule when dealing with cops: Never volunteer information that was not specifically asked for.
Exactly! I go even further though... When I get pulled over, I simply don't answer any of their questions or say anything at all. And they often ask a lot of stuff that is none of their business. (I've been pulled over more than once for traffic violations). We all have a right to not incriminate ourselves. I have such a low opinion of cops at this point that even just seeing them out on the street pulling someone else over pisses me off.

Of course you are exactly right. The government monopoly over scientific research is what has led us to these unfortunate circumstances. I wonder why people insist on calling things like this "privitization". Are they ignorant or just plain dishonest? It's the same ballpark as forcing private social security acccounts or hiring security contractors to conduct wars.

This is exactly why I disagree with the whole "support the troops" rhetoric. I do not support people who kill others in foreign lands. People must know that this is what they will be doing when they volunteer to join the army. You don't want to give politicians an excuse to maintain troops in over half the countries of the world? Don't let them send you. Don't fall for their "defending america" line.
