I would love to use it. But I'm sick of my laptop not powering down properly. I'm sick of patchy driver support. I'm sick of having no educational apps for my kids to use. I'm sick of every app that works on other platforms not running the same way, or as well, on linux.
This is in the same newscycle as Google (the web's biggest advertiser) updating their API in a way that breaks most adblockers. Regardless of the reason they did it, Google won't make changes that don't favour Google. This lead inexorably to a Google-centric web and monopolization of power.
Not at all. You can pretty much use any modern language for any problem, but some are better at some tasks than others. Some are also more intuitive, easier to read and elegant, and often those things are sacrificed for the sake of flexibility. I think the person is trying to say that we can have both. For example (from the article) spreadsheets written in BASIC that were both easy to program with low barriers to entry, and powerful as well.
So I finally replaced my WinPhone about 2 weeks ago. I loved my WinPhone - they're just so good. If I had known this a couple of weeks ago I would've waited.
Speaking for a friend: he used to religiously upgrade his software every two cycles. With the monthly subscription model he only downloads the software illegally.
This year I did my first linux install for home use in about six-eight years. I was Lubuntu on an Acer laptop. OOB the trackpad wouldn't work without a change to grub and I still can't get it to suspend/wake properly.
Linux is not ready. It needs manufacturer support.
That's not exactly true. Firstly there is peripheral information like interviews with interesting people, or project overview articles. Second, Magazines are a repository for information - you don't need to google it, it comes to you. Thirdly, magazines are edited - tested for correctness, spelling, good prose, etc. I'm sure there are more reasons, but these are the few I can list off the top of my head.
I always find it ironic when scientists say they don't believe there is a God when there is an overwhelming amount of evidence from physics that there is one.
... and the people of Africa, Asia and Latin America and a minute carbon footprint compared to the West. How do you think it is that the entire population of Africa has a smaller carbon footprint than the US?
This is echo some of the arguments made in this book - https://www.amazon.com/New-Pro...... specifically that the fact that there are laws and they favour life is evidence that and advanced civilisation/god exists.
O! Well! That's that problem sorted then. They promised. Cool. No need to worry about this anymore. No chance it will be abused then, like my personal information is, like their advertising networks are, like my right via EULAs are, etc...
This should be opened up to the community then. If you're worried about shared propriety code then strip that out and let people rewrite it.
Windows Mobile (IMO) is/was a great OS, and could easily be a competitor to Android and iOS. Microsoft could easily put a dent in the dominance of the other two platforms by simply giving their OS (which they don't care about or value) away.
So I'm a PhD student. About half my dissertation will be taken up with examining jihadist norms, and that means downloading a metric tonne of terrorist materials. This sort of indiscriminate law will catch people who'e committed no crime. A lot of those people will be people who are just curious. Some will be people with a legitimate interest in those materials. And some will be people who might turn out to be terrorists (given enough time) but who are innocent until then.
This is really a discussion about censorship. A such (history shows) it is very dangerous territory.
Why do you need to replace a blade and window? Surely a militarised helicopter should be able to withstand a knock like this. Otherwise a large bird would put this out of action, as would any munitions strike.

Remember that time that the climate scientists accurately predicted sea level rise? Me neither.
It's a personal storage table. They're a problem with Athlon laptops because they really hug them up.
If it were one off, yes. But because this is standardised over time and the parameters are fixed over time, the metric travels well.

So... you use both Outlook's reader and your own? Or did you code up Outlook? 0.o
I found this post using theoldreader.com.
The only thing that would make this news is if it read:
"Linus reacts proportionally to something he doesn't like and actually has something new and insightful to contribute."
I'm sick of hearing tech news about this idiot whinging about stuff. Linus, act like a normal person mate.

Why are we calling this bias? White males have the most range of unique identifying characteristics:
* Beards
* Moustaches
* More tonal contrast
* Difference in eye and hair colour

Seriously though, this is a really stupid question.

Because your cost/benefit analysis is faulty because it does not adjust after risk analysis.
