Not really, since sicko woodchoppers probably would take twice or triple the time to cut down a tree. I think they'd try to do it as slowly as they can, to enjoy it even more, IMO.
I just can imagine what Greenpeace would do in situations where trees can scream.
Naa, there is always cruel people around. If trees could scream, we'd have more sicko woodchoppers, cutting them down just for the pleasure to hear them scream.
I got scared playing Alone in the Dark (1). I think I was 15 when I first played it. All those sudden noises when everything was silent really made me jump on my seat. And my sisters around me, who were watching how I was playing and relating to the story too:P Good old times.
Well, you cannot expect someone that has been receiving all those Mako radiation to conserve their normal form, can you?
And well, I find Kefka's crackling very unappealing anyways. Very evil, of course, but not on my sexy list.
They're usually both. I don't know why. Must be the typical "women are attracted to bad guys" dilemma. I always find most of the bad guys sexy, as well as vile, of course.
Gannon and Gannondorf are out of question though...
Yeah, I give you the credit for that. Kefka was completely nuts. Kefka did more as "the bad guy" than Seph. But Kefka still doesn't look better than Seph;)
Sorry, but none of the previous FF had Sephiroth. That owns them all. I know, I'm biased, shoot me:P *woman gamer with a thing for crazy long-white-haired-mako-eyes badass guys*
I agree with you. After FFVII, the games never made me feel the same. So I stop counting at 7. And I'm happy with it. I loved FFVII and all the previous ones.
My best gamer year? 1999, when I got my copy of Zelda OoT. It made my Zelda fanaticism awaken from its slumber.
And you're all still missing one point of the MMORPG industry. Ever heard about emulators? You can easily get the game for free (from a friend, download, etc), and instead of connecting to the "normal" server, you connect to an emulator server, where you can play that mmorpg. And it's usually FREE. I know thought that usually those emulators aren't as half as good as the official ones, but I spent a lot of time playing UO and RO on local server who were GREAT, and a lot of people don't play MMORPGs for the game itself, but because their friends play too.
So that gives you free entertainment.
Now, I'm not discussing the legality of those servers. I'm just pointing out a fact.
That actually made me remember when I used to play a lot Freeciv... in the advanced years, almost to the end, when we had lots of global warming and our lands turned into useless deserts, my friends and I wondered if nuclear winter would cancel it... it actually made it worse:P we had useless deserts AND tundra.
I don't think it will converge. PCs are too versatile to be compared with consoles. Yes, maybe in the hardware issue, consoles are much cheaper than PCs when it comes to certain games, but having a computer gives you the freedom to add/remove/change absolutely everything, with a wide range of market for each component... you cannot say that for consoles (ok, I know there are "alternative" components for consoles, but usually the ones that are sold by the same company are the ones that works well).
I love consoles, and I love PCs, but the two are completely different things for me, and with different uses. I know, is hard to admit, but PCs are used for far more than just gaming:P
Once photorealism and realistic movement are achieved, what then?
I think that's a very narrow perspective. Ok, we pretty much rely on what we see and what we feel as "realistic movement" in games. But we don't know what's coming next. I would be like saying "TV is done once it gets full definition and full color". But TV is not done yet, at all. I hope they have something for us gamers to count on beyond realism and movement. And I go back to one of the first points of discussion in this topic. I just HOPE they innovate:P
I actually agree with you. I take for example, Final Fantasies series. Before anything, I have to say this is my very personal opinion . I liked them more when they had those extravagant hairstyles, more unlikely to see in real life. A more detailed example, I just love FFVII. I saw the images of the movie they're trying to do, and I just didn't like it.... I prefer a thousand times the PSX CG of the game videos, than the re-made characters in the movies.
It might be really good with certain games, but not with all of them.

This is getting soooo offtopic

Heh! you just made me laugh and made ppl around me look at me as if I was nuts. I'd give you a point if I could :P

Kefka!?!? KEFKA!?!?! Don't compare please... Kefka was a great meanie and everything, but he doesn't stand a chance against the sexy-ness of Sephy.
Yeah. No girls. Just lusty women :P Believe it or not

Maybe from "offline" people. But how many friends have you made on a MMORPG?
